A lovely milestone for The Coping Corner today as we held our very first peer supervision group at the centre!

As therapists, we spend so much of our time supporting others, so it's just as important that we have spaces where we can connect, share experiences, learn from one another and feel supported in our own work.

Taking time to reflect on our practice, share knowledge and learn from each other is an important part of ensuring we're providing the best possible care to the people we support.

One of the things I really wanted to create at The Coping Corner was a sense of community for therapists, not just a place to see clients.

We're looking forward to making these gatherings a regular part of life at the centre and continuing to build a supportive community of therapists here in Drogheda. 💛

We know life is busy. Between work, family, appointments and trying to remember what you walked into a room for, finding an hour for yourself can feel like a challenge!

That's why we offer morning, daytime, evening and weekend therapy appointments at The Coping Corner.

We can't promise to make your diary any less chaotic, but we can hopefully make finding time for therapy a little easier!

Sometimes, spending time together doesn't mean doing the same thing. Parallel play is when two people spend time alongside each other while focusing on their own activities.
Although the term is usually associated with young children, it is also used to describe how some people with ADHD enjoy connecting with others.
For example, one person might be reading while another is drawing, gaming or working on something completely different.
There's no pressure to keep a conversation going or participate in the same activity. Simply being in each other's company can feel comfortable and meaningful.
For some people with ADHD, this can be a lovely way to connect without the added demands of constant social interaction.
Connection doesn't always have to involve conversation. 💚

We are delighted to introduce you to Áine! 💚

Áine has chosen The Coping Corner to host two therapist-led support groups, one for pregnant women and another for mothers.

These groups will offer a welcoming, supportive space for women to connect, share their experiences and feel supported throughout pregnancy and motherhood.

Áine is a brilliant therapist, and we know everyone attending will be in good hands.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming Áine and everyone joining the groups to the centre!

And if this week has been a difficult one, be gentle with yourself. There's no pressure to make the most of every minute or have everything figured out.

Rejection sensitivity is when someone experiences a particularly strong emotional reaction to rejection, criticism or feeling that someone is disappointed in them.

For some people with ADHD, even small moments of perceived rejection can bring on intense feelings of hurt, shame or anxiety.

These emotions can sometimes be so overwhelming that they are felt physically, such as a tightness in the chest, a sinking feeling in the stomach or even physical pain.

Differences in emotional regulation, alongside past experiences of being misunderstood or frequently criticised, can make these feelings more intense.

The feelings are very real, even when rejection wasn't intended.
