Every surgery journey begins with a mix of emotions. ✨

This week at Traumacare Clinic, David, Patrick, Deirdre and Anne met with Dr. David Gonzalez ahead of their procedures, alongside our patient driver, Scott.

It’s completely normal to feel apprehensive and have those last-minute nerves before surgery. The “what ifs” can creep in, and the reality of what’s ahead can feel overwhelming. But one thing we see time and time again is how those worries begin to fade after sitting down with their surgeon, having every question answered, and knowing they’re in safe, experienced hands.

The nerves slowly turn into excitement. Excitement for a future with less pain, excitement to get back to walking, travelling, spending time with family, enjoying hobbies, and doing all the little things that chronic pain has taken away. Most of all, excitement about leaving behind the daily painkillers and the limitations that have held them back for so long. ❤️‍🩹

We wish each of them a smooth surgery and recovery, and we look forward to seeing them leave pain behind and get back to doing the things they love most. ✨

Pictured here are Antonio and Bernadette back at Hotel AJ after being discharged from the hospital on Thursday. It’s wonderful to see them both looking so happy, comfortable, and relaxed.

This marks the beginning of the next stage of their recovery, and we’re delighted to be by their side every step of the way.Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.

There’s always a sense of anticipation at Traumacare Clinic before surgery day.

Yesterday, Martin, Bernadette and Antonio attended their pre-surgery outpatient consultations, taking the final steps before their procedures today. It’s a chance for our patients to meet the clinical team, ask any last-minute questions, and feel fully prepared for what’s ahead. ✨

Also back in clinic was Shane, attending his post-operative check up and dressing change, a reminder of how quickly the journey moves from preparing for surgery to focusing on recovery. ❤️‍🩹

And, as always, Scott was there to support everyone, making sure patients got to and from their appointments with a friendly face and a reassuring presence.

Wishing all of this week’s patients the very best as they continue their Surgery Now journey. 💙

⏳Long waiting lists can leave patients feeling frustrated and unsure of what to do next.
For Finbarr, an 18-month wait for knee surgery led him to explore another option.

With the help of the Cross Border Directive and our Surgery Now team, he travelled to Spain for treatment, received the care he needed, and could finally focus on his recovery. ❤️‍🩹

His story is one that many people in Ireland will relate to and shows how accessing treatment abroad can offer a pathway forward when waiting lists stand in the way. 🇮🇪

📸 A photo from yesterday’s pre-surgery outpatient consultation at Traumacare Clinic, where Bosco and Shane met with their surgeon, Dr Hugo Marquina, ahead of their knee surgeries taking place today.

Both have been living with knee problems and decided not to wait any longer for treatment. Now, they’re taking an important step towards getting their lives back.

Bosco, originally from Spain 🇪🇸 but now living in Ireland, 🇮🇪 is looking forward to getting back on the football pitch and enjoying the active lifestyle he loves.

For Shane, this surgery is about getting back to living life to the fullest, staying active, keeping up with his two boys, and making the most of every moment with them without being limited by knee pain. ✨

Today is the start of a new chapter for both of them. Wishing Bosco and Shane every success with their surgeries and a smooth recovery journey ahead. ❤️‍🩹

📸 A glimpse into our pre-surgery outpatient consultations at Traumacare Clinic.

These appointments are an important part of every patient’s journey. Before travelling from Ireland, patients will already have met their surgeon during an online video meet, giving them the opportunity to discuss their procedure, ask questions, and begin building confidence in their care team.

Their pre-surgery outpatient appointment then provides time to meet face-to-face, complete pre-operative checks, discuss the procedure in more detail, and ask any final questions before surgery.

Nothing is rushed. Every consultation is focused on ensuring patients feel informed, comfortable, and fully prepared for the next step in their treatment journey.
For many of our Irish patients, this face-to-face meeting brings additional reassurance and confidence, knowing they are supported by an experienced team every step of the way.

Because great care starts long before you enter the operating theatre. ❤️‍🩹🇮🇪✈️🇪🇸

Thank You, Susan 🙏✨

We’re delighted to share this recent Google review from Susan following her hip replacement surgery in Spain 🇪🇸

“Surgery Now took over all the arrangements to enable me to have a hip replacement in Spain. They are so good at what they do and everyone on the team are just so helpful that I didn’t have to worry about anything. I would encourage anyone thinking of travelling abroad for surgery to look them up and save yourself a lot of time on waiting lists in Ireland.”

Thank you, Susan, for taking the time to leave such a wonderful Google review and for trusting Surgery Now with your care ❤️‍🩹 It means so much to our entire team to know we helped make your journey smooth and stress-free.

We wish you continued good health and a speedy recovery as you enjoy the benefits of your new hip ✨
