Last week, we introduced a very special initiative taking place at Glenaulin Nursing Home, Chapelizod, one of our 10 Grace Healthcare Ireland homes.

With the help of Karl from The Story Snug, , our residents have become the storytellers of their own remarkable lives, sharing memories, experiences and moments that have shaped who they are.

And now, we are delighted to share the first story, Brida’s story. ❤️

Brida watched the finished video herself and was quite emotional seeing her story brought to life. Most importantly, our movie star gave it her seal of approval and is very happy for us to share it with the world 🥰👏

Over the coming weeks, Karl will be sharing more individual stories from our Glenaulin residents, and we look forward to introducing you to each of them.

💚 Life in one of our Grace Healthcare Ireland Homes

A little glimpse at some of the lovely activities enjoyed by Residents at Nephin Nursing Home, one of our 10 Grace Healthcare homes, last week. 🥰

🐾 Therapy dog Luna paid a very special visit, spending time with Residents throughout the home and bringing plenty of smiles, cuddles and companionship.

🌱 Residents also got green-fingered, led by Nancy, Activities Coordinator; they learned how to propagate "Snake Plants" from leaf cuttings.

Now comes the exciting part: watching and waiting for those first little roots and shoots to appear 🪴

Two very different activities, but both wonderful ways to encourage connection, engagement and enjoyment in everyday life at Nephin Nursing Home

When Karl from The Story Snug Ireland asked if the residents at Glenaulin Nursing Home had any stories worth sharing for future generations to cherish, the answer was simple…

“Tons of them!”

And so began a very special day of storytelling, memories and a little bit of magic.

Karl arrived in his wonderful 1970s vintage caravan, transformed into a recording studio, giving our residents the opportunity to share their stories in a truly unique setting.

Our wonderful storytellers Michael, Brida, Dympna, Ellen, Rose and Patricia brought their memories to life, sharing stories from their lives and experiences.

There were giggles, there were a few tears, and there were plenty of moments that left Karl and Activity Coordinator Dana completely captivated.

Most importantly, there were real stories from real lives — stories of family, friendships, experiences, communities and moments that deserve to be remembered.

At Grace Healthcare Ireland, we know that every resident has a lifetime of experiences behind them. Preserving those memories means preserving a little piece of our shared history for generations to come.

A huge thank you to Karl from Story Snug Ireland for helping our residents become the storytellers and storytellers of their own remarkable lives.

Because every life has a story. And every story is worth cherishing.

🎂 Celebrating an Amazing 102nd Birthday
A very special celebration took place at Castleross Nursing Home, one of our 10 Grace Healthcare Ireland homes, as resident May celebrated her wonderful 102nd birthday on Sunday, September 27th ❤️

May was surrounded by members of the Castleross team as she enjoyed a beautiful birthday cake prepared by the Kitchen Team, along with cards, gifts, plenty of good wishes and a very special rendition of Happy Birthday 🎶🎈

Celebrating the birthdays and special milestones of our residents is such an important part of life in our homes – and 102 years is certainly a milestone worth celebrating 🥰

We were delighted to see Mark, Head of Group Quality, Compliance & ESG at Grace Healthcare, representing us at the Nursing Homes Ireland Annual Conference & Exhibition 2026 in Kilkenny today.

Mark’s e-poster, “Seeing the Unheard: Embedding Resident Voice in Quality Improvement Through Dementia Care Mapping,” was selected for presentation at the conference.

The project explores how Dementia Care Mapping can help us better understand the lived experiences of residents with moderate to advanced dementia and ensure their experiences continue to inform care planning and quality improvement.

At the heart of the project is a very important message – every resident has a voice and every resident’s experience matters.

Well done Mark on having this important work recognised and presented at this year’s conference. 👏

There was great pride at Castleross Nursing Home, Carrickmacross, one of our 10 Grace Healthcare Ireland nursing homes, as Residents were presented this week with the prestigious Macra na Tuaithe Cup, the overall prize at the Castleblayney Show

The win followed months of creativity and preparation, with Castleross Activities Coordinators Frances and Amy working closely with Residents on their entries.

Thank you to Castleblayney Show President Catherine Flanagan, Mary Flanagan and Pamela Sheridan for visiting Castleross to present the Cup and certificates, and to Samantha from the Castleross coffee shop for her help with the Residents' beautiful decoupage pieces.

💜 Celebrating World Alzheimer’s Month💜

As part of World Alzheimer’s Month 2026, residents at Nephin Nursing Home, one of our 10 Grace Healthcare Ireland nursing homes – enjoyed a very special Afternoon Tea with family members and friends. ☕🧁

It was a lovely afternoon filled with conversation, laughter, delicious treats and, most importantly, time spent together.

A big thank you to Chef Nidhin, Eldo and the Nephin Kitchen Team for preparing the beautiful cupcakes, and to the Care Team for helping make the afternoon so enjoyable for residents and their guests.

At Grace Healthcare Ireland, occasions like these remind us of the importance of connection, inclusion and creating meaningful moments together. 💜

💜 Tomorrow, Sunday, September 20th, members of the team from College View Nursing Home, Cavan – one of our 10 Grace Healthcare Ireland nursing homes – will take part in a fundraising walk in support of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland
🚶‍♀️💜

Activities Coordinator Fiona, together with her colleagues Martina, Lorraine, Kathleen, Hannah and Sinead, are taking on the walk to help raise vital funds for services supporting people living with dementia, as well as their families, friends and carers.

Across Grace Healthcare Ireland, we see the impact of dementia every day and understand the importance of services, awareness and support for those living with dementia and the people closest to them.

We are incredibly proud to see members of our College View team giving their own time to support such an important cause.

👏 Best of luck to Fiona, Martina, Lorraine, Kathleen, Hannah and Sinead tomorrow – everyone across Grace Healthcare Ireland will be cheering you on!

We love sharing the wonderful experiences enjoyed by residents across our 10 Grace Healthcare Ireland nursing homes – and this recent outing from Glenaulin Nursing Home was certainly a special one

Residents Rita, Rose, Michael, Bridget, Louisa, Marion and Patricia, accompanied by Activity Coordinators Dana and Giannina, enjoyed a beautiful autumn afternoon exploring the Phoenix Park.

🚐 The adventure began with a very special helping hand from Sarah from An Garda Síochána Dublin, who kindly organised a Garda bus ride for the group.

🍎 First stop was a stroll through the beautifully maintained fruit and vegetable gardens, enjoying the autumn colours and taking a little inspiration from nature.

☕ Of course, there was time for a well-earned tea, coffee and scones break before visiting the Phoenix Park Museum and Exhibition.

🚲 And then came a real highlight – a wonderful bike ride with Stephen, a volunteer with Cycling Without Age – Ireland, Fingal. What a fantastic way to experience the Phoenix Park

A very warm thank you to Sarah and Stephen for their kindness and generosity, and to Dana and Giannina for organising the outing and accompanying our residents throughout the day.

💚 Days like these are about so much more than a day out – they are about new experiences, friendship, fun and creating memories to bring home and share.

👋 Welcoming James Mooney to Grace Healthcare Ireland

We are delighted to welcome James Mooney, who has joined Tara Winthrop Private Clinic, Swords, as Director of Nursing.

Tara Winthrop Private Clinic is one of our 10 Grace Healthcare nursing homes, and James will lead the wonderful team there as they continue to provide compassionate, person-centred care to our residents.

As Director of Nursing, James brings his leadership to a team committed to ensuring that residents feel supported, respected and truly at home.

We wish James every success in his new role and look forward to working with him as part of the wider Grace Healthcare team.
