Creativity, Craftsmanship & A Whole Lot of Talent at St Gladys Nursing Home 🐯🪡

We wanted to share some of the wonderful creative work Brandon has been busy working on!

Brandon enjoys **latch hooking** and has just finished creating his fantastic “Little Bull” cushion. 🐂❤️ What a brilliant piece of work

And he isn't stopping there… Brandon is now working on a tiger head, which will become a footrest. 🐯🧵 We can't wait to see the finished piece!

Brandon has always been a talented craftsman. In the past, he did lots of **woodwork** and has even made **over 100 harps!** 🎵🪵

It's wonderful to see Brandon continuing to enjoy his creativity and putting his skills and imagination into new projects.

We think the Little Bull cushion looks fantastic — and we're very excited to see that tiger take shape!

🌿 A lovely walk in Harold’s Cross Park 🌿

Today, some of our residents enjoyed a wonderful walk in Harold’s Cross Park as part of our Nursing Homes Week celebrations. They were joined by family members and members of our St. Glady’s team Ebby, Manu & Jennifer: Ebby is our Activities Coordinator who organised our Nursing Homes Week activities with the support of the team 💚

The outing was a lovely opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, beautiful surroundings and each other’s company, perfectly reflecting this year’s theme, “Connected with Nature – Life in Full Bloom.” 🌳🌸

There was plenty of lovely conversation along the way, with residents sharing what nature means to them. Eileen said that being surrounded by nature makes her feel secure and happy, while Eleanor shared her love of nature, particularly flowers and trees. 🌺🌳

A sincere thank you to the family members who accepted our invitation and joined us for the walk. Having you there made the outing even more enjoyable and special for our residents. 💕

🌿 Enjoying nature in St. Glady's Nursing Home Gardens 🌿

Continuing our Nursing Homes Week celebrations and this year’s theme, “Connected with Nature – Life in Full Bloom”, our residents spent a fabulous time outdoors in the beautiful St. Glady’s garden. 🌸

They enjoyed putting out food for the birds, caring for the flowers and taking in all the lovely sights and sounds of nature around them. 🐦🌷

A peaceful and enjoyable activity that brought everyone together in the fresh air and helped our garden – and its visitors – continue to flourish 🌱💚

🌿 A wonderful start to Nursing Homes Week at St. Glady's Nursing Home🌿

Nursing Homes Week 2026 takes place from 17th–23rd August. This special initiative of Nursing Homes Ireland is being celebrated under the theme, “Connected with Nature – Life in Full Bloom.”

Today, Tuesday, our residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to Rathfarnham Castle, accompanied by family members and loved ones, our Activities Coordinator, Ebby, and members of the St. Glady’s team.

A special thank you to Michael, our guide at Rathfarnham Castle, for a fascinating guided tour and such a warm welcome. We also enjoyed spending time in the fabulous castle grounds – a beautiful setting that perfectly reflected this year’s Nursing Homes Week theme. 🌳🏰

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped to make the outing so enjoyable for our residents.

Our next Nursing Homes Week outing takes place this Friday, 21st August, when we will visit Harold’s Cross Park. Family members and loved ones are very welcome to join us – please contact Ebby for further details. 💚

🌿 ST. GLADY’S NURSING HOME – NURSING HOMES WEEK 2026 🌿

Rengini Raju, Director of Nursing at St. Glady’s Nursing Home, is delighted to invite families to join their loved ones for two special outings during Nursing Homes Week, which takes place from August 17th to 23rd.

Guided by this year’s lovely theme, “Connected with Nature”, our outings will include:

🏰 Tuesday, August 18th
A visit to Rathfarnham Castle, departing St. Glady’s Nursing Home at 2pm.

🌳 Friday, August 21st
A visit to Harold’s Cross Park, walking down by 2pm.

Spending quality time together in nature is a wonderful way to create meaningful memories and strengthen the bonds between our Residents and their loved ones.

If you would like to attend either outing, or give permission for your family member to join us, please contact Ebby, our Activity Team Lead.

We look forward to sharing these special occasions with you.

Our regular singer and musician Mikey had a little help at our afternoon ‘Hoolie’ here in St. Glady’s

Meet Desmond, who joined Mikey for an afternoon of singing, music and plenty of craic. 👏

Out in the garden, enjoying the sunshine, great company and a few favourite songs — what more could you ask for? ☀️🌸🎵

There may just be a new singing partnership in the making 😉🎤

🌞 Summer Party Memories from St. Glady's Nursing Home 🌞

We’ve already shared some lovely photo memories from our Summer BBQ- Party on Thursday, July 30th – and now we have another video to share that truly captures the wonderful party atmosphere in our beautiful garden. 🥰

We were so lucky to enjoy a beautiful summer’s day, with residents, families, friends and our team coming together for a very special afternoon filled with precious moments. ☀️😊

The order of the day included:
🍔 A delicious BBQ with plenty of scrumptious food
🎶 Fantastic live entertainment from Mikey and his Guitar
💃 Great company and lots of smiles
❤️ Precious time spent with loved ones
🌼 An afternoon of creating new memories together

A huge thank you once again to everyone who played a part in making the day such a fantastic success – our residents, their families, our Chef and Catering team; Activities Team led by Ebby, and every member of staff whose kindness, enthusiasm and hard work helped create such a memorable occasion.

☀️🎉 Summer BBQ Memories – Part 1 🌸💚

We are delighted to share the first collection of photos from our recent Summer BBQ here at St. Glady's Nursing Home

It was a fantastic day filled with music, laughter, family, friendship and plenty of smiles. Residents, families and staff came together to enjoy wonderful entertainment, delicious food and great company, creating memories that will be treasured by everyone who attended.

A very special thank you goes to our incredible Kitchen Team, led by our Group Chef, José, , who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare and serve a delicious feast for everyone. Your hard work, dedication and care helped make the day extra special, and we are so grateful for everything you do. 👏💚

Thank you also to our amazing staff, residents, families and everyone who helped make the day such a wonderful success. A special shout-out goes to our fantastic Activities Team, led by Ebby, for all the planning, organisation and capturing these wonderful moments. 📸

We were also delighted to welcome Rioghnach Murphy, CEO of Grace Healthcare Ireland, (Pic 3 - addressing the guests) who joined us to celebrate this very special occasion with our residents, families and team.
Thank you also to our wonderful musician - Mikey - who is a firm favourite with our residents.🎸
