It’s World Music Therapy Week 🎶
This year’s theme, “Connecting Borders,” speaks to the way music therapy reaches across differences in age, diagnosis, ability and setting to support meaningful health goals.
At Neurolinks, we see this every day through our work, with the intentional, evidence-based use of music to support movement, communication, cognition, emotional wellbeing and connection.
Music therapy offers a unique route toward health, development and rehabilitation goals that are deeply human as well as highly clinical.
Every intervention is tailored, purposeful and grounded in the individual’s goals.
This week, we’re proud to celebrate the power of music therapy to create progress, connection and possibility.

Living with Parkinson’s can affect movement, speech, thinking and connection over time.
Our weekly music therapy group is designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s and uses rhythm, music and group-based tasks to support these areas in a practical and enjoyable way.
In sessions, we use rhythm and familiar music to support movement and balance, singing and vocal exercises to support speech quality and breathing, and music-based tasks to support attention, memory and connection with others.
The group is relaxed and supportive. You can take part seated or standing, and no musical experience is needed.
We are currently welcoming new members and places are limited.
If you would like to find out more, or have a chat about whether the group might be a good fit for you or someone you support, please text 0872839279 to arrange a call, message us here, or email [email protected]

A well-deserved night out with the Neurolinks team!🎄

Passing ships in the night most days, so it’s always lovely to come together in person. So grateful for this supportive, talented team and for the work we do with our clients.

Just missing Liz, but really looking forward to having her back from maternity leave very soon!

After 10 years, I had my last day at the National Rehabilitation Hospital last week. A genuinely bittersweet moment.
I started there on a 12-month student placement and basically never left. It’s where I carried out the clinical work for my PhD, which led to a permanent post being created, and where I grew more than I can put into words.
I’ve learned so much from the incredible team (led by the amazing Becky O’Connor), from the wider IDT, and most of all from the patients, people whose strength and determination make every day there a reminder of what hope really looks like.
It definitely feels strange stepping away, and I’ll really miss it. But this was always the direction things were heading. Neurolinks has grown in ways I could only have hoped for, and it’s time to fully step into that next chapter, taking everything I’ve learned with me.
And no, they haven’t seen the back of me yet. I fully plan on keeping close ties and hopefully collaborating again down the line. Grateful for the past decade, and excited for what’s ahead. 💛

Returning to the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in Putney this week brought back a lot of memories. It was here that I did my very first clinical placement during my Master’s training in Music Therapy, and this time I was back with the team from the National Rehabilitation Hospital.
I shared my clinical work and research in Neurologic Music Therapy® and spent the day reconnecting with people I had only met online and meeting new colleagues in the field. A really meaningful visit and a great reminder of how far this work continues to grow.
