💔These past few days I have been blessed with the opportunity to speak to dozens of women who have suffered from baby loss. I have been incredibly touched by each one of their brave stories of dismissed pain, unacknowledged loss, hidden grief, and astounding resilience. It is my deepest hope that I can contribute in, at least, a small way, to start changing how disregarded early baby loss is by society, and particularly healthcare professionals, who often treat these families with coldness and ignorance, when what we need is compassion and understanding.

💔Regardless of our political views or stances, I am thankful people with power like Meghan Markle and Chrissy Teigen have opened up and shared their intense grief following the tragic loss of their babies to miscarriage and stillbirth, respectively. Their voices have an impact, and maybe they can shed a light on how invalidated our grief following baby loss always is. I am sorry for every single family that lost a child this way, please know you might feel terribly lonely, especially in a global pandemic, but I promise you, you are NOT ALONE.

💔If you have suffered from baby loss and want to share your story with me confidentially, please feel free to DM me. Thank you, thank you.

Thank you for your lovely post, which I have shared.

💜The birth of a baby can trigger a mix of powerful emotions, from excitement and joy to fear and massive shifts in identity. The combination of genetic, hormonal, emotional and psychosocial factors can lead to the development of Postpartum Depression.

Many new mamas experience postpartum "baby blues" after childbirth, which commonly include mood swings, crying spells, moments of intense anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Baby blues typically begin within the first two to three days after delivery, and may last for up to two weeks, but resolve on their own and do not need specific treatment, except for emotional and social support.

Postpartum depression isn't a character flaw or a weakness, it is, in fact, one of the most common complications after childbirth. If you have Postpartum Depression, prompt and adequate treatment can help you manage your symptoms and improve the overall health of your family and the relationship with your baby.

There are many safe treatments for Postpartum Depression. We know that if you're feeling depressed after your baby's birth, you may be reluctant or embarrassed to admit it. But if you're struggling, you're not alone, please know that we are always here for you and we understand! We are here to support you along the way, with no judgment or stigma. Don't hesitate to ask for help.💜

♥️Let's talk Childhood Development! Let's remember that we influence child development, cognition, emotional regulation, sensory input, hormonal balance, and other psychosocial and biological factors since conception.

I think 'good parenting' is that which responds to the particular cues and needs of the children, with emotional and social support, cognitive stimulation, proper nutrition, adequate sleep and more importantly, unconditional love! Easy, huh?♥️ Part II.
