This is a really fascinating listen.

I had a great conversation with Dan Siegel in the most recent episode of the TSM podcast. Dan's been a mentor and supporter of TSM, and it was great to sit down with him. We discuss:

• The relationship between “monitoring” and “modifying” in meditation (and how this relates to trauma)
• The mindfulness practices Dan believes we need in response to the global pandemic
• The Window of Tolerance in relation to TSM and systems theory
• Contemporary definitions of mindfulness and three empirical pillars that can inform our teaching and practice
• The importance of integration in meditation and trauma recovery

Really missing teaching meditation and mindful movement and the connection with others, as well as creating a space where people have opportunity to settle and connect with themselves.
Life is so dis-connected at the moment and would like to offer something towards connection and settling.
Mulling over holding a day-retreat
(from homes over zoom)
of mindful movement and meditation practices.
A day of quietness and reconnection to the self.
I am also aware of how zoom/ online fatigued people may be so perhaps more zoom isn’t the answer...
So putting it out there.
Would there be interest for something like this or are people zoom saturated? DM/comment and let me know if you think you may be interested. Feel free to share with others 💛

Compassion doesn't mean we don't fight; it means we don't hate.

A reminder for myself and you

Soooo we all have them. Unhelpful thoughts and emotions and they can take over our minds if we let them in a little too much.

I'm guilty 🙋‍♀️ I had a weird week last week comparing my life/body/work to others and everything was a bit stressful(corona etc 😅) and I found my emotions and my thoughts were a bit 🤯 I was getting lost in my head instead of being present with my family.

On Sunday for my self care I stayed off social media and tried as best I could to stay present in what I was doing. I went on a little adventure to the woods with the fam bam left my phone at home and I felt refreshed for the week ahead.

When you feel these unhelpful thoughts and emotions coming up just practice social distance as if you were in a shop and someone was less than 2m away from you. Feel it ask yourself is this helpful? If the answer is no take a few breaths focus on it and come back to the present moment.

There is no neutral. The basis of the path is acknowledging that I have a position. That’s what mindfulness is. I have a location. I have karma. I have biases. I am part of an interdependent system. I am making choices, both consciously and unconsciously. Without acknowledging our relative position, the path can’t even start. Feigning neutrality is an obstacle. Neutrality is a confused view of reality. Equanimity is not neutrality. Compassion is not neutrality. Emptiness is not neutrality. The Middle Path is not neutrality. Those of us with privilege might do well to question why we ever thought neutrality was the goal.
