Your gut isn't broken. It's stuck in a loop.

Progesterone drops. Cortisol rises. The gut lining gets thinner. The bacteria that process oestrogen slow down — and the bloat, the 3am wake-ups and the afternoon crash arrive together.

Same salad. Same routine. Different body.

Foundation is one daily scoop built for that loop, not for "gut health" in general. Eurofins tested. 90-day guarantee, no questions asked.

The thing that beats most supplements costs nothing. Including, honestly, parts of ours.

Cortisol is the hinge of the whole chain, and step two is where this is easiest to interrupt. The most effective things there aren't things you can buy.

Why the 3am waking happens: cortisol follows a rhythm overnight, and when there's less progesterone buffering it, that rhythm gets louder. You wake up alert at an hour that makes no sense.

What actually helps: a dull, screen-free half hour before bed. A consistent bedtime, even at weekends. A ten-minute walk after your biggest meal. None of it is interesting and all of it is free.

And what ashwagandha does and doesn't do: KSM-66 at 500mg is the dose the studies used, and it covers the nutritional side of step two. It does not replace sleep. Anything sold as a substitute for a bedtime is being oversold.

Comment CASCADE for the chain it sits inside.

Ask any dietitian or gut researcher, when they aren't selling anything, and you get some version of this.

Diversity. Fibre. Stress. Movement. Live cultures. Sleep.

Nobody disputes it. Almost nobody does it consistently.

That gap is the actual problem — not knowledge, ex*****on. Save this one.

Six bottles in the cupboard and still bloated at 4pm.

Let me guess what's in there. A live culture capsule. Magnesium. Vitamin D. Something with ashwagandha in it. A greens powder bought with a fair bit of hope. Possibly a digestive enzyme.

Somewhere between €80 and €120 a month, and none of them formulated to work alongside the others.

It probably wasn't inconsistency. It was more likely the dose. The most common reason a supplement does nothing isn't that the ingredient was wrong — it's that the amount was chosen to look reasonable on a label rather than to do anything measurable.

And they were all aimed at the same step. Most things sold for bloating work on step three of a four-step chain, while steps one and two carry on in the background undoing it.

It's a sequence nobody laid out for you, in a category that tends to sell one step at a time — which is, conveniently, how you sell six products instead of one.

Nothing much happens in week one, and I'd rather say so.

Weeks 1–2: bloating tends to ease first. Bowel movements get more regular. Sleep can feel slightly more settled. Nothing dramatic, and anyone promising dramatic is overselling.

Weeks 3–6: energy steadies, the afternoon crash softens. This is the stretch where most people either notice something real or don't — and if they don't, that's worth knowing.

Weeks 7–12: the fuller picture. This is why the programme runs ninety days rather than thirty.

Why set expectations this low? Because a woman who knows the timeline finishes the programme, and a woman promised miracles quits in week two and blames herself.

How a brand talks about timelines tells you a fair amount about how confident it is.

Same meals, different outcome. Nothing about what you eat changed. The result did.

It builds through the day. Fine in the morning, obvious by evening. That's a pattern, not a reaction.

Elimination stopped working. Cutting things out helped once and then didn't, and the list keeps shrinking.

It arrived with other things. Sleep, mood, skin and joints changed in the same couple of years.

If three or four of those are yours, the food probably isn't the variable.

Comment CASCADE for the chain that explains all four.

There's a part of this a supplement cannot touch, and I'd rather say so.

Progesterone declines first and fastest from the early forties. It relaxes the smooth muscle that moves food through your gut, and it buffers your stress hormone. When it drops, both jobs go unfilled.

Nothing in a tub replaces a hormone. Not ours, not anyone's. Any product sold as an alternative to hormone therapy is being oversold, and you should treat that as information about the brand rather than about the product.

If HRT is right for you, take it. That's a conversation with a doctor, not with a supplement company. We work on the three steps downstream, alongside it rather than instead of it.

Why say this at all? Because the opposite gets sold constantly, and because a brand that won't tell you what it can't do probably isn't telling you much else either.

Let me save some of you the money.

This is for you if your digestion changed somewhere in your forties and nobody could tell you why. If foods you've eaten for thirty years have started disagreeing with you. If you've already tried live culture capsules, greens powders and cutting things out. If you'd rather understand the mechanism than be sold a promise.

And it isn't, if you want results in a week — bloating tends to ease first but the fuller picture is eight to twelve weeks. If you're looking for a weight product; it isn't one and we won't pretend otherwise. Or if you want something instead of HRT; step one is hormonal and nothing in a tub touches it.

If you're still here, it was probably built for you.

Turn the tub around. It takes ninety seconds and it's the only part that can't be styled.

Six things worth checking, ours included. Save this one and use it on whatever's in the cupboard.
