Feeding your baby should be a time of connection, not discomfort.
Many parents experience neck pain, shoulder tension, back aches, and wrist discomfort during feeding, especially in those early weeks when feeds are frequent.
A few simple posture tips can make a big difference:
- Bring baby to you, not you to baby
- Use pillows or a feeding cushion for support
- Keep your shoulders relaxed and your back supported
- Avoid prolonged gripping or awkward wrist positions
- Change feeding positions regularly
- Take a moment to stretch and move between feeds
Remember, your comfort matters too. Persistent pain isn't something you simply have to put up with as a parent. Looking after your posture can help make feeding more comfortable for both you and your baby.
Small changes today can prevent bigger problems tomorrow.
