One thing I learned through my own excision surgery is just how easy it is to forget information when you're feeling anxious.

Even if your surgeon explains everything clearly (as they should), it's completely normal to walk out of an appointment and think... "I wish I'd asked that."

That's why I'm such a big believer in writing your questions down before your pre-op appointment and taking someone with you if you can. A second pair of ears can make a huge difference and perhaps even record with their permission.

Some of the conversations you have before surgery may feel daunting. Depending on your individual situation, your surgeon may discuss the possibility of more complex procedures if endometriosis involves organs such as the bowel or bladder.

These discussions aren't meant to frighten you, they're an important part of making sure you understand the potential risks, benefits, and treatment options before giving your consent.

Before you leave the hospital, make sure you feel clear on the practical side of recovery too.
✨ How should you care for your wounds?
✨ What symptoms are expected?
✨ What signs should prompt you to seek medical advice?
✨ When is your follow-up appointment?
✨ Who should you contact if you're worried before then?

You don't need to remember everything by heart. Ask for written information if it's available, and don't hesitate to ask someone to repeat or explain something if you're unsure.

💛 Is there a question you wish you'd asked before your surgery? Share it below. It might help someone else who's preparing for theirs.

Somewhere along the way, we've learnt to see our bodies as something to constantly fix?😭🫠

✔️Eat less.
✔️Train harder.
✔️Ignore the symptoms.
✔️Push through.

And lately, it feels like we've found ourselves back in a world where being smaller is the goal again. Smaller bodies. Smaller appetites. Taking up less space... how have we gone backwards???😵‍💫(it feels like we're back in the 90's... only worse)

Your life's work was never meant to revolve around shrinking yourself.

One thing I've learnt from working with women is this:

Your cycle often reflects the life you're living.  It's influenced by your stress, your sleep, your nourishment, your relationships, your boundaries, and the way you move through the world.

Your body isn't working against you, it's responding to the environment you're asking it to live in, so maybe the goal isn't to spend more time trying to change your body?

Maybe it's to spend more time listening to it?

If you're someone struggling with your cycle, suffering from endometriosis, PMOS, perimenopause, H.A. or anything else that disrupts your life, my dms are open, I'd love to help 🫶🏻🩷

🌸 One day. One memory she’ll carry with her🌸

There’s something really special about doing this part of growing up together.
Not waiting until the questions come.
Not hoping she’ll know what’s happening.
But sitting beside her, opening up the conversation, giving her the knowledge she needs, and letting her know: “You can always talk to me.” 🤍

That’s what Blossom is all about.

I created this day because I know how much easier it can feel to navigate puberty, periods, changing bodies and big emotions when we have the right words, the right information, and someone beside us to talk to.

My mum and daughter day is a day to slow down, laugh, learn, ask questions, have those sometimes-awkward conversations in a safe and supported space, and simply enjoy being together.

🌸For girls aged 8-12, we’ll gently explore puberty, periods, hormones, body literacy, and the changes that come with growing up in a way that feels positive, empowering, and age-appropriate

And for mums, it’s a chance to feel more confident about supporting your daughter through this next chapter while strengthening that beautiful connection between you.

Whether you come on your own, with sisters, cousins or friends, you’ll be welcomed into a warm, relaxed and nurturing space where curiosity is encouraged, questions are welcome and no question is too small.

Preparing for endometriosis surgery can bring a mix of emotions; relief, hope, anxiety, uncertainty, and everything in between 💛

One of the few things you can control is how you prepare beforehand. A little planning can make those first few days of recovery feel much more manageable.

I'm sharing the practical things I'd pack, along with a few things I'd do before surgery to make recovery a little easier. From preparing nourishing meals & snacks and creating a comfortable recovery space to remembering lip balm and a long phone charger, it's often the small things that make the biggest difference.

Of course, every surgery and every recovery is different, so always follow the advice of your surgeon and healthcare team.

If you're having excision surgery, remember that recovery often takes longer than many people expect. While you may be given a two-week cert, many people find they need additional time (I was totally naive to this expecting to be back to work 2 weeks later🙃) Speak to your surgeon or GP if you don't feel ready to return to work. Whilst the surgery is minimally invasive, it's massively complex & internally traumatic for most.

If you've already had endometriosis surgery, what's the one thing you'd recommend packing or preparing that made your recovery easier?

💡Don't forget: Wear something loose and comfortable that's easy to slip back on when it's time to go home.

📌 Save this post for later or share it with someone preparing for surgery. My dms are always open if you have any questions💛

Preparing for endometriosis surgery doesn't begin on the day you arrive at hospital... It starts in the weeks beforehand.

Having recently undergone excision surgery myself, I found myself returning to the same foundations I encourage my clients to focus on every day. Not because they're "magic fixes", but because they help give your body the resources it needs during a time when it's under more stress and being asked to heal.

In the lead-up to surgery, I focused on:
🤍 Eating balanced, nourishing meals with enough protein - meals that I could tolerate whilst continuing to eliminate triggers i.e. dairy, gluten, caffeine, alcohol (the usuals🤪)
🤍Including plenty of colourful fruit and vegetables - I rotated and changed these week by week to add variety in the weeks leading up to surgery.
🤍Staying consistently hydrated.
🤍Protecting my sleep, my energy, and boundaries - I became very protective of where I put myself and how I spent my days (My priority was me - nobody else was going through this surgery)
🤍Moving gently to support circulation and digestion - daily walks and daily yoga... even if I only managed 20 minutes some days (fatigue has been one of my worst symptoms).
🤍Paying particular attention to my gut in the week before surgery, as constipation is common after abdominal and pelvic surgery. Supporting digestive transit beforehand through adequate fibre, hydration, and gentle movement can help you go into surgery feeling more comfortable (I'll share a post on this as I move through this series).

Preparation isn't about being perfect, and my own prep was far from perfect. It's about creating the best environment you can for healing with the things that are within your control.

Save this post for your journey or share it with someone who is preparing for surgery 💛🎗

I spend my days supporting women with hormonal and menstrual health because of something I’ve been quietly living with over half of my life.

Five weeks ago I had excision surgery for endometriosis… and recovery has reminded me that healing isn't something we can rush, and that looking after ourselves BEFORE & AFTER surgery matters just as much as the day itself.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be sharing practical, evidence-informed advice alongside the things that genuinely supported me through recovery. You won't find any "get ready with me" reels or perfectly curated recovery selfies in what I’ll be sharing. The reality was that I was terrified going into this. My surgery turned out to be more complex than expected, and my focus was on getting through each day, not documenting it… because that’s the reality for most.

Instead, I'm choosing to share what I wish I'd known before surgery, what helped me afterwards, and the conversations I think every woman deserves to have. My hope is that these posts help you feel more informed, more prepared, and a little less alone if endometriosis surgery is part of your journey.

Whether you're preparing for surgery yourself, supporting someone you love, or simply trying to understand endometriosis better, I hope these posts help you feel more informed and less alone.

As always, my advice is designed to complement, not replace, the guidance from your consultant and surgical team.

If you've had excision surgery, what's one thing you wish someone had told you before you went into hospital?
Share with someone who might be preparing for surgery or is currently post-surgery.

🌸 Blossom Mum & Daughter Retreat Day 🌸

Saturday 26th September | Mo Chuisle, Collon, Co. Louth

There are some conversations we wish we'd had growing up.

Conversations that would have helped us understand our changing bodies, our emotions, our menstrual cycles, and ourselves with a little more confidence... and a lot more compassion.

That's exactly why I created Blossom.

This is a gentle day for mums and daughters (ages 8–12) to slow down, connect, and navigate this season of change together.

We'll explore puberty, periods, hormones, and body literacy in an age-appropriate, empowering way, creating space for curiosity, questions, and meaningful conversations. My hope is that every girl leaves feeling informed, confident, and proud of her body, and every mum leaves feeling more connected and equipped to support her.

Whether you come on your own, with sisters, cousins, or friends, you'll be welcomed into a relaxed, nurturing space where connection feels fun and no question is too small.

These days are always incredibly special, and places are intentionally kept small to create an intimate experience.

If you've been thinking about coming, I'd absolutely love to welcome you both. 🤍
