May is Axpraxia Awareness Month.

In case you didn’t know, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) or Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia (DVD) is a motor speech disorder.

It affects how the brain plans and coordinates movements needed for speech.

Which can look like:
👉 The same word being pronounced differently each time
👉 Longer words and phrases causing difficulty
👉 An unusual rhythm in how words sound

Many children benefit from AAC, whether as a support or their primary communication method.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the AAC Family Camp so far! 🙌

Your donations, support and words of encouragement mean so much.

The AAC Family Camp will bring 30 families together from across Ireland with different diagnoses and medical needs.

What brings them together is how they communicate - AAC.

Parents, siblings and families will have the chance to learn more about the ways they can support their AAC user.

While AAC users will have time to meet their peers and take part in activities they might otherwise be unable to participate in.

The AAC Family Camp is the first of its kind in Ireland and we’re relying on donations to make sure it can go ahead.
