August Birthday Celebrations at Glenaulin 🎉🎂

August has been a very special month at Glenaulin Nursing Home, as we celebrated the birthdays of some of our wonderful residents with family, friends and plenty of smiles! 💕🥳

🎈 Ann Doyle – celebrating her birthday with us.

🎈 Mary Daly – Mary enjoyed a lovely birthday celebration surrounded by family. In the photo, Mary is pictured in the blue jumper with her sister, who is also a resident here at Glenaulin. Another of their sisters came along to join the celebrations too, making it an extra-special family occasion. ❤️👭

🎈 Larry Kelly – celebrating with his son and daughter-in-law. It was lovely to see family joining Larry to mark his special day. 💙🎂

🎈 Patricia McGann – celebrating a truly remarkable 99th birthday! 🥳🎂🌸 Patricia enjoyed her special day surrounded by her family, making wonderful memories together.

A very Happy Birthday to Ann, Mary, Larry and Patricia! 🎉❤️

Thank you to all the families who helped make these celebrations so special. Birthdays are always a wonderful excuse to come together, share some cake, enjoy a few laughs and celebrate another year of precious memories. 🎂🥰

A Reunion of a Musical Family at Glenaulin Nursing Home

It is always a great pleasure for us here in Glenaulin to be part of a very special family reunion. ❤️

Today, sisters Miread and Mary, who are residents here with us, were delighted to welcome their sister Ann and their wonderfully talented brother Joe, who treated everyone to some beautiful piano playing.

And at 95 years young, Joe certainly doesn’t look it! What a wonderful gift to share his music with us all.

There was plenty of music, laughter and treasured family time, making it a truly special visit for everyone.

We are already looking forward to their next visit.

🌸 Floral friendship bracelets at Glenaulin Nursing Home 🌸

Continuing our Nursing Homes Week celebrations and this year’s theme, “Connected with Nature – Life in Full Bloom”, our residents enjoyed creating beautiful floral friendship bracelets. 🌺🌿

Led by our Activities Coordinator, Tejinder, the activity encouraged creativity, conversation and connection as everyone designed their own colourful bracelet.

A lovely way to celebrate friendship and bring the beauty of nature into our home during this special week. 🩷🌼

🌸 Continuing our “Life in Full Bloom” celebrations 🌸

Our Nursing Homes Week activities continued at Glenaulin Nursing Home as residents created these beautiful and colourful flower crafts. 🌺🎨

Margaret, Marie, Michael, Christina, Ann and Mauren all enjoyed getting creative and bringing this year’s “Connected with Nature – Life in Full Bloom” theme to life.

A lovely activity filled with colour, creativity and plenty of smiles! 🩵🌸🌿

🌿 Nursing Homes Week at Glenaulin Nursing Home 🌿

This week, from 17th–23rd August, we are delighted to celebrate Nursing Homes Week 2026, an initiative of Homes Ireland. This year’s theme is “Connected with Nature – Life in Full Bloom”, celebrating the many ways nature can inspire, engage and bring joy to nursing home residents and communities.

As part of our celebrations, our residents enjoyed a wonderful sensory experience in our herb garden with Activities Coordinator Dana. Chrissy, Mary, Imelda, Michael and Vivien put their senses to the test, smelling the different herbs growing in the garden and trying to guess their names 🌱

It was a lovely activity filled with beautiful scents, conversation and plenty of fun – the perfect way to connect with nature and enjoy our garden together. 🌿☘️🍀

🎂 Celebrating Rosaleen’s 77th birthday at Glenaulin Nursing Home 🎂

Our dear Rosaleen enjoyed a lovely celebration to mark her 77th birthday. Everyone gathered together to sing “Happy Birthday” to you. After blowing out the Candles Rosaleen closed her eyes and made a special wish 🎉🎈

As always we celebrate birthdays in Glenaulin Nursing Home with a celebratory cake, lots of singing of happy birthday, banners and balloons.

🏖️ A Taste of the Tropics at Glenaulin Nursing Home 🏖️

In advance of our Nursing Homes Week celebrations, we were delighted to welcome the Bumblebees Ukulele Group to Glenaulin Nursing Home on Sunday.

Surrounded by colourful leis and a wonderful tropical ambience, our Residents could almost imagine they were relaxing on a sunny island 😎🌺

The lovely music created a fantastic atmosphere, with plenty of singing, smiles and summer fun enjoyed by everyone. A sincere thank you to the Bumblebees Ukulele Group for bringing such joy and entertainment to our home. 🎉🎵

Glenaulin residents, Rose, Breeda and Connie enjoyed a wonderful presentation celebrating the songs and poetry of Percy French at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, Ireland . 🎼

It was a lovely opportunity to sit back, enjoy some music and poetry, and perhaps reminisce along the way. 💚

There’s nothing quite like the power of music and poetry to bring back memories, spark conversations and create special moments together.

It sounds like a lovely afternoon was had by all🌸🎶

Our Glenaulin Garden has reached one of our favourite stages: harvesting 🥰

Our green-fingered residents Christina, Marion, Michael and Rita have been busy getting the garden all sorted and enjoying watching their hard work turn into a delicious harvest.

And what better reward for all that gardening than some lovely, juicy cherry tomatoes straight from the garden? 🍅

There’s something very special about growing your own food, from planting the seeds and caring for the plants to finally enjoying that first delicious bite.

Well done to our wonderful gardeners 🌿💚

🌞🏖️ Summer Fun Continues at Glenaulin Nursing Home 🏖️🌞

The seaside memories came flooding back this week as our residents enjoyed a fun-filled beach-themed activity 🌊

With plenty of laughter, smiles and a little friendly competition, everyone put their aiming skills to the test by trying to throw the beach ball into our Activities Coordinator, Dana's, giant "Granny's Pants" 🤣💛 (oversized clown-style pants).

Residents reminisced about happy days spent at the Irish seaside while enjoying some gentle exercise, movement and lots of laughter together.

A huge well done to Rita, Maura, Ann, Philomena, Catherine, Bernie, Betty and Lily, who all took part with great enthusiasm. 👏

At Glenaulin Nursing Home we know that staying active, sharing memories and enjoying a good laugh together are some of the best ingredients for a wonderful day. ❤️
