The IPU, represented by Jim Curran, was delighted to attend the official photo launch of Men's Health Week 2026 (15–21 June) alongside Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, and Minister of State at the Department of Health with responsibility for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy, Jennifer Murnane O'Connor.

The event, organised by the Men's Health Forum in Ireland, highlighted the importance of encouraging men to engage proactively with their health and wellbeing.

Community pharmacies play a vital role in supporting men's health through accessible advice, preventative care, health screening services, and signposting to further support.

Men’s Health Week 2026: Make Progress Rather than Seek Perfection

Not too long ago, we were unaware of the full extent of men’s poor health status and the specific health issues that they are contending with. However, this is no longer the case. In recent years, a broad range of research has highlighted the health challenges, which face men in Ireland and further afield. This research shows that these men experience a disproportionate burden of ill-health and die too young.

The IPU would like to extend its congratulations to Lorcan Macken and the team at Macken’s Pharmacy, Blackrock, County Dublin, as they celebrate an impressive 75 years of serving their local community.

The celebrations will take place this Friday, 12 June, at 2.30pm, with the Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, attending to mark this significant milestone.
