🏃‍♂️ “I'm thinking, why didn't I do it sooner?”

For David Gillick, better vision meant more than seeing clearly. It meant freedom.

No more glasses. No more contact lenses. No more thinking about his eyesight every day.

“The clarity afterwards was incredible. I only wish I’d done it years ago.”

At Wellington Eye Clinic, every treatment is tailored to your eyes, your lifestyle and your goals through our Lifestyle Vision Design approach.

Most people don’t think about the cost of their vision all at once.

It happens gradually.
Glasses. Contact lenses. Eye tests. Prescription updates. Replacing broken pairs.

Over time, many people realise they haven’t just been paying for vision. They’ve been continuously maintaining it.

That’s why vision correction is not always just a financial decision. For many people, it becomes about freedom, simplicity and not having to think about their vision every day.

20/20 vision is not the full story.

When we assess someone for laser eye surgery or lens-based vision correction, we’re not just asking, “Can you read the chart?”

We’re looking at how you actually use your eyes every day, driving, working, reading, travelling, playing sport and living your life without relying on glasses or contact lenses.

That’s the difference between chasing a number and designing vision around the person.

Considering laser eye surgery or ICL? Book a consultation and find out what’s right for your eyes.

Still reaching for reading glasses? 👓

If your phone feels harder to focus on, menus are blurred, or you keep stretching your arms to read things clearly… you are not alone.

From our 40s onwards, near vision naturally changes and for many people, reading glasses slowly become part of daily life.

At Wellington Eye Clinic, treatment planning is designed around your lifestyle, your vision needs, and how you want to see the world every day.

One of the most common questions we hear is: “Is laser eye surgery painful?”

According to Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Mr Brendan Cummings, the procedure itself is not painful. The eye is fully numbed before treatment, so patients do not feel pain during surgery.

Depending on the procedure, some people may experience mild discomfort during recovery, but the treatment itself is not painful.

Watch the video to hear Brendan explain.

You don’t realise how much energy goes into managing your vision until you stop having to think about it.

Glasses one day.
Contacts another.
Adjusting screens.
Squinting while driving.
Packing solutions before travelling.
Falling asleep before taking your lenses out.

For many people, the frustration builds slowly. And often, that is the moment they start asking whether glasses or contact lenses still fit the life they want to live.

At Wellington Eye Clinic, vision correction is designed around more than your prescription. Through Lifestyle Vision Design, we look at your eye health, your lifestyle, your work, your hobbies and your long-term goals.

Because modern vision correction is not just about seeing clearly. It is about making everyday life feel easier.

Not everyone is suitable for laser vision correction and that matters.

At Wellington Eye Clinic, every assessment is built around Lifestyle Vision Design. A personalised approach that considers your eyes, your anatomy, your lifestyle, and what you want your vision to help you achieve.

Using advanced Digital Twin LASIK technology, a virtual model of your eye is created and treated thousands of times before surgery even begins. No two eyes are the same, so no two treatments should be either.

And one of the questions we hear most often? “Is laser eye surgery painful?”

The procedures themselves are not painful, as the eye is fully numbed during treatment. Some procedures can involve mild discomfort during recovery, but the surgery itself is not painful.

“8 weeks changed everything.”
Majella thought it was just cataracts. What followed was a personalised plan built around her life, her vision, and the outcome she wanted most.

This is what Lifestyle Vision Design looks like in real life.

A modern vision correction consultation is about much more than checking your prescription.

At Wellington Eye Clinic, every assessment is designed to understand the person behind the eyesight.

We look at:
• Your eye health
• How your eyes function
• Your lifestyle and daily routine
• Screen use and visual demands
• Long-term eye stability
• Which treatment pathway may suit you best

The right recommendation should never be rushed or one-size-fits-all. This is what Lifestyle Vision Design means.

A personalised approach to vision correction, built around how you live, not just what you see on an eye test.
