One of the most important lessons about changing your health came from one of my patients.
We often think improving our health means changing everything at once — our diet, exercise, sleep, stress, and routines.
But trying to overhaul your entire life overnight is often exactly why change doesn’t last.
Start smaller. Choose one thing. Make it achievable. Repeat it until it becomes part of your life — then build from there.
Sustainable progress doesn’t have to be dramatic. It just has to be something you can keep doing.

October reset — without the detox, restriction or ridiculous rules.

Choose a few simple things you can genuinely commit to this month.

Walk more.
Prioritise sleep.
Know your numbers.
Eat more whole foods.
Make time for your health.

You don’t need a perfect month.

You need a month you can build on.

Save this and come back to it at the end of October.

You probably know your phone number without thinking.

But do you know the numbers that tell you something about your health?

Knowing where you stand gives you the opportunity to act early — rather than waiting until something goes wrong.

Save this list and ask about your numbers at your next health check.

Today is World Heart Day ❤️

Looking after your heart doesn’t require perfection. It’s the small things we do consistently that can make a real difference over time.

Moving more, eating well, getting enough sleep, managing stress and knowing important numbers like your blood pressure and cholesterol are all part of looking after your cardiovascular health.

The best time to start? Today. One small change is still a change in the right direction.

Look after your heart — you only get one.

As a Cardiologist, these are symptoms I wouldn’t want you simply brushing off.

It doesn’t mean every one of them is caused by heart disease — but context matters, particularly if symptoms are new, worsening or happening with exertion.

Save this. It might be useful one day.

And if you’re experiencing severe or sudden symptoms, seek urgent medical attention.

Over 40? Screenshot this.

Knowing your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar — alongside understanding your lifestyle and family history — can tell you far more about your cardiovascular risk than simply saying, “I feel healthy.”

Prevention starts with knowing where you stand.

Save this for your next health check.

Brussels next week 🇧🇪❤️

On 11th September, I’ll be speaking in Brussels as part of the European Lifestyle Medicine Organisation meeting.

We’ll be asking an ambitious but important question:

Can we prevent the next million heart attacks?

Cardiovascular disease is largely preventable, but creating meaningful change requires us to work together — across cardiology, lifestyle medicine, research, policy and patient care.

It’s an opportunity to share ideas, build new European collaborations and explore how we can turn prevention into everyday clinical practice.

If you’re attending the meeting, I’d love to see you there in person.

Heart health doesn’t have to mean completely changing your life overnight.

Some of the most powerful things you can do are surprisingly simple — the challenge is doing them consistently.

Save this and choose ONE habit to work on this week. You don’t need to do everything at once.

Can we prevent the next million heart attacks?

Heart disease remains Europe’s leading cause of death — yet much of it is preventable.

The evidence is there. The challenge is turning that evidence into everyday clinical practice.

On 11th September in Brussels, I’ll be joining colleagues from cardiology, lifestyle medicine and European cardiovascular policy to explore how we can do exactly that.

By bringing together clinicians, policymakers, researchers, allied health professionals and patient advocates, we have an opportunity to share ideas, build new collaborations and help shape the future of cardiovascular prevention across Europe.

Collaboration. Innovation. Implementation.

That’s how we turn prevention into practice.

“Your numbers are normal, so your heart is safe.”

It’s an assumption I hear all the time.

Blood tests are incredibly useful, but they’re a snapshot of what’s circulating in your blood at that moment. They don’t necessarily tell us what may already be happening within the walls of your arteries.

That’s why cardiovascular prevention is about looking at the bigger picture — your numbers, your history, your lifestyle and your overall risk.

Normal results are reassuring. They’re just not the whole story.
