My blood test results were not what I was expecting ๐ณ๐ซฃ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Of all the parameters tested I did not think the calcium and pulse would come back low.
Ironically Iโve recently become fascinated by RED-s due to the increasing number of women getting stress fractures but I was the last person I thought could possibly start getting symptoms. But I was wrong. It possibly accounts for my recent increase in anxiety and poor sleep. And if Iโd gone to my GP without these extensive blood test results, the likely diagnosis would have been perimenopause and HRT prescribed.
And while HRT may well have eased some of the symptoms, if I didnโt address the fuelling aspect of my exercise, then some of the symptoms would still deteriorate.
Any woman at any stage of her life can get RED-s, and many GPโs donโt know about it, but for a woman in her 40โs exercising, the symptoms of RED-s could be misdiagnosed as perimenopause and therefore incorrectly treated.
So Iโm on a mission to learn more about RED-s, learning about how to better fuel for my runs and to hopefully reversing my readings.
If you are considering getting some blood tests done I would highly recommend and I have a 10% off discount code for in-house testing.
