Budget 2027 is a critical opportunity to invest in addiction treatment, recovery and family support services.

Coolmine’s Pre-Budget Submission sets out six practical actions to safeguard services, respond to rising demand and strengthen recovery pathways for individuals, families and communities across Ireland.

In 2025, Coolmine supported 3,282 individuals across residential, community, outreach, family, housing, medical and aftercare services. Demand continues to rise, and investment is needed now to protect services and expand access to recovery.

Over the coming days, we will share the actions Coolmine is calling for in Budget 2027.

A huge thank you to the Mulhuddart Men's Shed for building this stunning bench for the clients of Ashleigh House. It is a wonderful example of what community kindness and skill can achieve, and it will be enjoyed for years to come.

Our Q2 2026 data shows that alcohol remains the most common primary substance among people accessing Coolmine services (34%), followed by powder co***ne (29%) and crack co***ne (7%).

This year, crack co***ne is being recorded separately for the first time and now accounts for almost 1 in 4 co***ne-related presentations.

These trends help us better understand the challenges people are facing and ensure our services continue to meet emerging needs across communities.

Recovery starts with understanding, support and access to the right treatment at the right time.

Recovery affects entire families, not just individuals.

Our latest National and Regional Press Releases highlight a growing demand for family support services. In the first half of 2026, Coolmine supported 241 family members, up from 178 during the same period last year.

This increase reflects the vital role families play in recovery and the need for dedicated supports that help loved ones navigate the challenges of addiction and recovery alongside the person seeking treatment.

Recovery doesn't happen alone, and family support remains at the heart of what we do.

John takes us inside our Recovery Through Nature programme, where clients connect with nature, learn new skills, and take positive steps in their recovery journey. Through planting, growing, and caring for the garden, people have the opportunity to build confidence, improve wellbeing, and experience the benefits of being part of a supportive community.

A special thank you to our partner Keelings for helping make this programme possible.

A huge thank you to our fantastic corporate partners at Mediolanum and their incredible team of volunteers, who recently spent the day at Ashleigh House helping to transform our outdoor space.

The team rolled up their sleeves to clear weeds and debris, repaint the shed, and give the area a much-needed refresh. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and willingness to get involved made a real difference, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.

Days like these are about so much more than practical improvements. They strengthen the relationships between our organisations, create opportunities to connect, and remind us of the power of working together towards a shared purpose.

Thank you once again to everyone from Fondazione Mediolanum who gave their time and energy to support Coolmine. We always look forward to welcoming you back for another great day together.
