Most people who’ve had chickenpox think they’re done with it. They’re not.

The virus stays in your nervous system for life. As you get older or if your immune system is compromised ,
it can reactivate as shingles: a painful blistering rash that can last weeks, and for some, leaves behind nerve pain (PHN) that lingers.

Who’s most at risk:
— Adults 50 and over
— Anyone with a weakened immune system, from age 18
