Due to the high level of interest, we’re pleased to announce that we have moved to a new venue: The Alex Hotel, Dublin.

Advances in reproductive medicine continue to shape how patients are assessed, referred and treated across fertility services.

To support healthcare professionals in delivering evidence-based patient care, Merrion Fertility Clinic, in collaboration with The National Maternity Hospital, is pleased to host Fertility Study Day 2026.

This CPD-approved educational programme will provide the latest clinical updates, practical insights and current best practice in fertility and reproductive medicine.

The programme will cover:

• Current approaches to fertility assessment and management
• Diagnostic developments and appropriate referral pathways
• Advances in reproductive medicine and assisted reproduction

• Key clinical updates relevant to fertility and reproductive healthcare

The event is designed for GPs, consultants, nurses, midwives, embryologists and healthcare professionals with an interest in reproductive health.

In addition to earning recognised CPD credits, participants will have the opportunity to connect with colleagues from across Ireland and engage with leading experts in the field.

Dr Roisin McConnell, Fertility Specialist at Merrion Fertility Clinic, was invited to give evidence to the Joint Committee on Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, on the Organisation of Working Time (Reproductive Health Related Leave) Bill 2021, drawing on the ReproWork project, led by Professor Marian Crowley-Henry and Dr Valentina Paolucci in collaboration with Merrion Fertility Clinic.

The discussion brought together a range of perspectives, expertise and lived experiences of reproductive health and the workplace, with contributions from Maeve McCafferty, Senior Official with the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO); Alison Lynch, Chair of LMC Bereavement Support; and Jennifer Duggan, Chairperson of The Miscarriage Association of Ireland.

There was also strong engagement from committee members, with thoughtful questions and contributions from Senator Linda Murray, Deputy Rose Conway-Walsh, Deputy Paul Nicholas Gogarty and Senator Aubrey McCarthy.

The Bill grew from concerns raised by INTO members and was introduced by then-Senator Ivana Bacik, with Deputy Marie Sherlock playing an important role in advancing it through the Houses of the Oireachtas.

It was an important opportunity to bring research, professional experience and lived experience together in a discussion about how Ireland can better support people navigating fertility treatment and pregnancy loss while in employment.

Meet our Patient Services Team.

Our Patient Services Team are often the first friendly faces our patients meet and a familiar point of contact throughout their time with us.

From arranging appointments and coordinating care to answering questions and helping patients navigate the practical side of treatment, they make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

They’re also there for the moments that aren’t so straightforward, taking the time to listen, explain and reassure when patients need a little extra support.

Their care, patience and attention to detail make such a difference, both to our patients and to the wider team at Merrion Fertility Clinic.

We couldn’t do what we do without their care and commitment.

We're delighted to celebrate our Patient Services Manager, Carol Whelan, as she marks 20 years at Merrion Fertility Clinic.

Carol joined us in 2006 as a part-time receptionist and has built an incredible career with the clinic. She progressed to Nurse Support and Treatment Coordinator, gaining valuable experience in fertility treatment cycles and scheduling, before becoming Professor Mary Wingfield’s Medical Secretary and Secretariat of the Irish Fertility Society.

In 2020, Carol became our Patient Services Manager, where she leads and trains our Patient Coordinators to an exceptionally high standard, playing a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the very best care and support.

Carol's dedication, expertise and commitment over the past 20 years have made her an invaluable member of our team.

Congratulations, Carol, on this wonderful milestone. We're so lucky to have you as part of the Merrion Fertility Clinic family!
