On Sunday, members of our team at Merrion Fertility Clinic took part in the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon in support of the Irish Cancer Society, a cause that means a great deal to us.

We’re delighted to share that, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised €1,850. We’re very grateful to everyone who donated, and to our team for taking part on the day.

We're honoured to work alongside the Irish Cancer Society on the Childhood Cancer Fertility Project. Every year in Ireland, around 200 children receive a cancer diagnosis. The treatments they undergo can have long-term effects on their fertility, which can impact their hopes of starting a family in the future.

This initiative helps ensure that they have access to fertility preservation options, so that lifesaving treatment does not come at the cost of their future dreams of parenthood.

Thank you again to everyone who supported this important cause 💛

Our Head of Research, Louise Glover, and Patient Experience Manager, Orla O’Leary, recently attended the first in-person Advisory Board meeting for the ReproWork project at Maynooth University, alongside former Clinical Director of Merrion Fertility Clinic Prof Mary Wingfield, Prof Marian Crowley-Henry, Dr Valentina Paolucci, Jack Martin, and other contributors with a shared interest in advancing this area of research.

The ‘ReproWork’ project is a partnership with Maynooth University, focused on improving workplace support for individuals undergoing fertility treatment. This meeting marked an important step in bringing together expertise from research, clinical practice, patient care, and lived experience to help shape the future direction of the work.

We’re proud to contribute to research that seeks to enhance awareness, understanding, and support for patients navigating fertility treatment in the workplace.

Thank you to Marian, Valentina and Jack for organising such an insightful meeting, and to Maynooth University for hosting us.

We wanted to share a few highlights from last weekend’s Sharing Best Practice Meeting, where Nurse Manager Aoife Corley and other members of our nursing team represented us.

The meeting brought together excellent clinical perspectives across fertility and early pregnancy care.

Our Head of Research, Louise Glover, gave a talk on Reproductive Immunology, with a focus on the role of the endometrium in implantation. Fertility Specialist Roisin McConnell followed with a presentation on publicly funded fertility treatment, and the question of whether GPs are fully equipped with the knowledge needed to support patients through referral pathways and early discussions.

We were delighted to hear a talk from Marion Maher, Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Diagnostic Imaging UCD, who spoke about early pregnancy care and ectopic pregnancy guidance. Marion also carries out specialist scans at Merrion Fertility Clinic and remains an important part of the wider clinical network.

We're very proud of our team for their contribution and engagement throughout the event.

Thanks to Merck for hosting such a well organised and insightful meeting.

International Clinical Trials Day 🌟🔬

Today, we celebrate and thank the dedicated researchers, participants, and healthcare professionals who make clinical trials possible, especially our outstanding Clinical Research Team at Merrion Fertility Clinic.

At Merrion Fertility Clinic, we’re committed to advancing scientific discovery in reproductive medicine, helping to improve outcomes in assisted reproduction. Our research covers everything from the basic biology of infertility to the identification of new clinical biomarkers. We are proud to collaborate with leading Irish research institutions including UCD School Of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin, and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). We are also proud members of the UCD Perinatal Research Centre at The National Maternity Hospital.

Our team actively contributes to the wider scientific community through involvement with professional organisations such as Irish Cancer Society (ICS), British Fertility Society (BFS), Association of Irish Clinical Embryologists (ICE), and ESHRE - European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, among others. They regularly represent Merrion Fertility Clinic on the international research stage, sharing their expertise and commitment to patient-centred research.

We are incredibly proud of our Clinical Research Team and their ongoing contributions to advancing fertility research.

Today, on International Nurses Day, we’re celebrating the incredible nursing team at our clinic.

From the very first consultation to treatment, pregnancy scans, and every emotional milestone in between, our nurses are there to guide, support and care for our patients with compassion, kindness and expertise.

Fertility treatment can be an emotional journey, and the reassurance, warmth and dedication our nurses bring each day makes a real difference to those we care for.

We’re so grateful for everything they do and proud to have such an exceptional team at our clinic.

Thank you, today and every day.

We are delighted to share that Dr Niamh Fee’s paper on egg freezing outcomes in our AYA patient population has been published in the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics.

This important work adds valuable evidence to a field where data remains limited, particularly in adolescents, and helps strengthen understanding of fertility preservation outcomes in young cancer survivors.

Survival rates after childhood cancer are now over 80%, and fertility has become an increasingly important aspect of long-term care for young survivors. Further research in ovarian reserve and egg freezing outcomes is essential to continue improving fertility preservation pathways for this patient group.

This publication also highlights Merrion Fertility Clinic’s role as a national centre providing funded oncofertility care to adolescents undergoing cancer treatment.

We are incredibly proud of Dr Fee and the wider AYA team across patient services, clinical, nursing, and laboratory departments for their continued dedication over the past six years. Their work continues to strengthen our advocacy for HSE funding and improved access to care for young patients and their families.

To mark Administrative Professionals’ Day earlier this week, we’d like to take a moment to recognise our fantastic receptionists, patient services team, patient accounts team, and all of the admin team at Merrion Fertility Clinic.

While many of these team members work behind the scenes, they’re at the centre of everything we do. From the moment a referral is received, they help coordinate tests, arrange appointments, liaise with doctors, answer queries, and support every department across the clinic.

They’re a dedicated, hardworking team who keep everything running smoothly and help make each patient’s journey as seamless as possible.

We often receive feedback highlighting how their kindness, professionalism, and warm welcome help patients feel calm, reassured, and at ease when attending appointments.

Thank you to every member of our admin team for the care, commitment and support you bring each day. We appreciate all that you do.
