Looking back on Nursing Homes Week, it's hard not to smile.
Over five days, St Joseph’s was filled with flowers, music, fresh air, shared stories, cups of tea and plenty of laughter. We enjoyed time in the garden, a trip to Shanganagh Park, leaf tracing, an indoor garden party and, finally, the planting of our sunflower seeds.
None of it would have been possible without the many people who gave their time, energy and support so generously.
A special thank you to Catherine and Stella, our Activities Coordinators, and Jimmy, our Maintenance Supervisor. From the fabulous sunflowers to the daily activities plan, so much care went into making the week enjoyable for our residents. Every day captured the joy, connection and spirit of life at St Joseph’s.
We are also incredibly grateful to our volunteers, who were on hand throughout the week to help, encourage, chat and join in. Their warmth and enthusiasm are such an important part of our home.
Thank you to The Mermaid Florist for the beautiful sunflowers, Heath Apple House for the sunflower seeds and the Marley Singers for filling St Joseph’s with music.
Most importantly, thank you to our residents. Their stories, laughter and enjoyment made the week what it was.
Sunflowers became a lovely reminder that there are always bright spots to be found, whatever the weather. Our theme was ‘Life in Full Bloom’, but that is not something we celebrate for one week only. It can be found at St Joseph’s every day, in the people, friendships and small moments that make this a home.
