👶Helping Children Build Core Strength Through Play
A strong core plays an important role in your child’s everyday movement. It helps support balance, posture, coordination and gives children a stable base for activities such as sitting, crawling, standing, walking and playing. 💛
👉 The good news? Building core strength doesn’t have to feel like exercise! Children develop these muscles naturally through movement and age-appropriate play.
📍Simple activities can include:
▪️ Reaching for toys in different directions
▪️ Tummy time and floor play
▪️ Crawling through tunnels or over soft cushions
▪️ Sitting and playing on the floor
▪️ Climbing and balancing activities
▪️ Throwing and catching a ball
▪️ Animal walks and playful movement for older children
Making activities fun and engaging encourages children to move, explore and build strength naturally.
👉 If your child struggles with balance, posture, sitting or other movement skills, paediatric physiotherapy can help identify areas where they may need some additional support and provide exercises suited to their individual stage of development.
