The 'what I eat in a day' videos are everywhere right now. If you're on weight-loss treatment, the version that actually matters is protein: getting enough of it while your appetite is quiet. We built a realistic Irish workday — breakfast, deli lunch, dinner, snacks — with approximate protein counts for every item, using ordinary food from any Irish shop. Nothing exotic, no supplements required: https://slimbr.com/blog/high-protein-workday-ireland-glp-1

Ireland's drug-assessment body has finished reviewing a weight-loss injection for possible HSE funding and recommended it be "considered for reimbursement". That is an assessment, not a funding decision — the HSE decides next, and we're not aware of a date. Here's the timeline, who decides, and what the HSE covers today:

The NCPE completed its Wegovy assessment on 13 Oct 2026. What was recommended, who decides next, and what the HSE funds for weight loss today.

"Will weight-loss injections get cheaper in Ireland?" The honest answer is that nobody can promise a price drop. What we know: UK private list prices rose in September 2025, no generic version has launched anywhere yet, and an HSE group was reported to be due to consider public funding for weight management — an early step, not a decision. Full breakdown with sources, including how to decide whether to start now or wait:

Will Mounjaro get cheaper in Ireland? No price cut is announced and no generic exists yet. What's known about prices, patents and the HSE.

Constipation is one of the most common Mounjaro and Wegovy side effects, and one of the least talked about.

In the pooled Wegovy trials it affected 24.2% of people (vs 11.1% on placebo). It was mostly mild to moderate, with a median duration of about 47 days.

Why it happens: these medicines deliberately slow how fast your stomach empties. That's part of how they work, but slower transit plus eating less fibre can make for a sluggish bowel.

What many people find helps (and the HSE suggests): fluids first, fibre built up gradually (wheat bran, oats, linseed), a daily walk, and not ignoring the urge.

A short list worth memorising: severe or worsening belly pain especially with vomiting, no bowel movement for days with bloating, or blood in the stool. Contact a doctor promptly.

It's the kind of thing a doctor-supervised programme should help you with, rather than something to quietly tough out.

Which is right — weight-loss surgery or injections? The honest answer: it depends on your BMI, your health picture and what you'll sustain.

We compared the trial data, the HSE criteria, private costs and recovery side by side, so you can have a better conversation with your doctor: https://slimbr.com/blog/bariatric-surgery-vs-injections-ireland

Every conversation about Mounjaro and Ozempic is about starting. Almost none are about stopping — even though that's where the hardest work happens. The trials are clear that weight is typically regained without a maintenance plan. Here's what improves the odds: how to time the stop, protecting muscle, and building habits while you still have the medicine's help. If weight crept on through perimenopause while nothing else changed, it wasn't your imagination — and it wasn't a character flaw. Hormonal shifts change how the body stores fat and holds muscle. Understanding that points to what genuinely helps (and what doesn't). We wrote the full guide for Ireland: https://slimbr.com/blog/menopause-perimenopause-weight-gain-ireland

No judgment, just numbers: we counted the calories in Ireland's takeaway and pub classics — the spice bag, the breakfast roll, the 3-in-1, the carvery dinner. Some are what you'd expect; a few "healthy" options will catch you out. Knowledge beats guesswork when you're making choices. "Appetite suppressant" covers two very different things in Ireland: licensed prescription medicines assessed for safety and effect, and supplements free to make vaguer claims. Most of what's marketed at you is the second kind. We wrote the honest breakdown — what's licensed, what isn't, and what questions to ask before spending money: https://slimbr.com/blog/weight-loss-supplements-appetite-suppressants-ireland

Ozempic searches keep climbing in Ireland, and most of what surfaces is either hype or fear. Here's the plain version: what it costs, who can actually get it, why it's prescription-only, and how to spot the falsified pens the HPRA has warned about.
