🔴 Are you struggling with hip or groin pain?
🔴 Have you tried physio/rehab without much success?
🔴 Is it beginning to affect day to day life?
🔴 Are you worried about surgery?

The epidemic of hip and groin pain across multiple sports in Ireland is absolutely huge, and it isn’t slowing down…

Although there can be many factors which play a part in this problem, here are 3 which I feel play a large part in this chronic problem:

👎🏻 Training, rehab and conditioning drills which place an excessive amount of load/pressure to the front of the hip and create soreness…

👎🏻 Excessive stretching and ‘mobility work’ which can often keep a sore and irritated area sensitive…

👎🏻 Activities of day to day life (such as studying, working, driving) which, if not modified, can keep a irritated hip and groin sore through the day…

There is light at the end of the tunnel. By viewing the problem with a fresh set of eyes, simply modifying the above risk factors and taking a more nuanced approach, you can reap significant effects in your symptoms…

Call 085 827 2613 today to find out how this approach will be able to help you get moving in the right direction. It might just be the best call you make this week…

If you anyone struggling with this problem, tag or let them know about this post. Don’t let them struggle in silence…

11 Hamstring injuries already…..and only 24!

Here is an interesting article about Cork footballer Seán Powter and his ongoing battle with hamstring problems. It is an insight into how even with some of the best sports medicine and rehab advice in the country, he’s still struggling big time…

His frustration, and often desperation is clear through the article:

“It was hugely frustrating…”; “They were tight before it but it was just “get through this game…”; “I was 30 minutes away…”

This lad has likely done more reps of muscle strengthening and stretching this year than I have had hot dinners. Yet, here he was again reduced to limping off the field.

There is a famous quote attributed to Einstein: “ The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results…”

My approach to chronic hamstring injuries is different. It involves a root and branch analysis to find the problems that continue to linger on and on. It can get you on the field and back to your best in a very short space of time…

Finding the cause and fixing it properly means your chances of reoccurrence will also be greatly reduced…

Yikes, not a good look here at all from Ireland the Ireland medical team this morning with a lot of questions to be asked on why Jeremy Loughman allowed to return to play (or even do a head injury assessment in the first place…

World Rugby has brought in a new mandatory 12 day concussion stand down protocol this month. Whilst it obviously is a good thing for ensuring players don’t return too early, I am also concerned that the 12 days may deter players (and maybe staff) from making a decision that makes them miss 12 days of action (and in this case almost the whole NZ Tour)…

Remember, this isn’t a rugby problem, it’s happening in hurling, soccer, gaelic football as well…

Mind yourselves, and take care of your head and brain. You only get one of them and it’s pretty important!

“Was surprised that Jeremy Loughman came back onto the pitch after this. Presumed that there would be no need for any off-pitch HIA given what we saw here.”

Sick of hip pain taking over your life?

Hip pain is common. Far too common. From 2011 to 2017, hip replacement surgeries rose by 33%. It’s a grim statistic that is only going in one direction…

However, it doesn’t have to be this way. The inevitable slide towards injections and surgeries is as a result of treatments that don’t address the underlying issue, and only mask the symptoms…

If you, a loved one or a friend is battling hip problems and is worried about the future, get in touch to discuss how you can start moving in a positive direction.
