CRACKED HEELS: At this time of year, we frequently treat cracked heels. Cracks around the edges of heels are very uncomfortable and can become infected, but can be easily treated and avoided. After every shower/bath rub the heels with a good urea-based moisturising cream such as Simply Feet foot cream, or heel balm if the skin on your heels seems very dry. If you are unfortunate to have cracks we can reduce the dead dry skin very gently and painlessly, with a scalpel or burr, we stick the sides of the crack back together and tape the heel to reduce pain and promote healing. This will then heal within 3 days and then you should start moisturising the skin. Ring 091564417 for more advice.

Skin cancer is very treatable at an early stage. In Galway Podiatry Clinic we will always alert you to a suspicious lesion, particularly in a spot that you can't easily see yourself. We have detected so many early stage cancers which have thankfully been removed or frozen, saving lives!!!
