We’re very proud and humbled to see our story featured in the Galway Advertiser.

What people see today as Kelly & Family Funeral Directors is the result of a journey that wasn’t always easy. Behind the business are years of hard work, sacrifice, uncertainty and plenty of challenges that tested us along the way.

Starting something from scratch, especially in an industry where compassion, trust and responsibility mean so much, came with its own difficulties. There were times when we questioned ourselves, times when things felt incredibly difficult, but we believed in what we were trying to build and, most importantly, in the kind of service we wanted to provide to families.

Our family has worked incredibly hard to get to where we are today, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the people around us.

Every family who has trusted us to look after their loved one has played a part in our story. We know the responsibility that comes with that trust, and we will always be deeply grateful for it.

This article tells just a small part of the story, the challenges, the determination and the journey behind Kelly & Family Funeral Directors. It’s lovely to be able to look back and see just how far we’ve come.

A heartfelt thank you to the Galway Advertiser for taking the time to tell our story, and to everyone who has supported us, believed in us and stood by us along the way.

The 3rd anniversary for Carmel Flaherty Nee McCormack late of Parkmore Doorus and formerly Breadh Caltra will be held in St. Ciarans church Doorus (H91 Y9V6) Sunday the 4th of October at 9am.

May Carmel rest in peace

A little support when you need it most.

When someone we love passes away, there is already so much to cope with.
The added worry of funeral costs and finances can make an incredibly difficult time even harder.
In Ireland, financial supports may be available, depending on your circumstances.
Additional Needs Payment – may help with essential funeral costs if you’re struggling financially.

Bereaved Parent Grant – a one-off €8,000 payment may be available to eligible surviving parents with dependent children.

There are also other bereavement and social welfare supports that you may be entitled to, depending on your circumstances.

At Kelly and Family Funeral Directors, we know that sometimes a little information can make a difficult time feel that bit more manageable.
If you’re unsure what support is available, please ask. You don’t have to figure everything out on your own. ❤️

For every family who places their trust in Kelly and Family Funeral Directors, there is a quiet world of care taking place, much of it never seen, but all of it deeply important.

Behind closed doors, there is careful preparation, gentle handling and attention to the smallest details quiet acts of care carried out with dignity, patience and respect.

Every person entrusted to our care is someone deeply loved, with a lifetime of memories and relationships behind them.
That understanding brings a solemnity to every part of the work.

A careful touch.
A final adjustment.
A moment of stillness.
Small, unseen acts, carried out with compassion at one of life’s most difficult moments.

Much of this work will never be seen.

But every detail is done with care, because behind every person is a family who loved them and a family who deserves to know they are in gentle, respectful hands.

The other day, while we were spending some time in Doorus Graveyard carrying out grave maintenance we were lucky enough to meet Thomas, the caretaker, as he arrived to mow the lawns.
It was lovely to see the quiet care and dedication he puts into his work. Mowing the lawns may seem like a small task, but the pride, respect and attention he gives to the graveyard is so important.

Places like Doorus Graveyard hold so much history and meaning for families and visitors, and keeping them well cared for ensures that everyone who comes to remember and pay their respects can do so in a peaceful and welcoming environment.

Let’s all show our appreciation to Thomas for all the work he does, often quietly and without recognition. Your care and respect for this special place truly does make a difference. 🌿❤️

World Su***de Prevention Day 🕊️💛
This is a day that we hold very close to our hearts.

As funeral directors, one of the hardest parts of our work is supporting families who have lost someone to su***de. We see the heartbreak, the unanswered questions and the pain that is left behind.

But we also believe in being there before it gets to that point.

If you, or someone you know, is going through a difficult time, please don’t feel that you have to face it alone. Sometimes having someone simply listen can make a difference.

Dylan, Paul and Holly are always here to talk. Our doors are always open. You don’t need to have the right words, and you don’t need to explain yourself. If you’re struggling, having a bad day, or just need someone to sit and listen, please come in and talk to us.

This is something we genuinely care about, and something we will always hold close to our hearts. ❤️

Holly’s Journey becoming part of the funeral profession feels like a natural step in a life spent caring for others.

Originally from Clare, Holly works as a Healthcare Assistant in a nursing home, supporting residents and their families through care and loss.
These experiences have given her a deep respect for death, the traditions surrounding it, and the importance of being there for families at a difficult time.

She now brings that same care to her role in the funeral profession with a calm presence, a listening ear and genuine compassion.

Holly is also proud to be part of a growing number of women in the Irish funeral profession, bringing qualities of empathy, organisation and care to what has traditionally been a male dominated industry.

For Holly, it’s about helping families honour their loved ones with dignity, respect and in a way that feels right for them.

“I just want families to feel that they’re not on their own. If I can be there, listen and make things a little easier, that’s what matters to me.”
