Merlin Pharmacy Merlin Pharmacy, Doughiska, Galway, was established in 2002 and is happily serving the community of Doughiska & its surroundings ever since.

We pride ourselves on the level of service we provide to our loyal customers and receive much positive feedback from them. Our staff love to go the extra mile, whether that be providing reassurance & advice on health complaints, sourcing difficult to find products, or just providing service with a smile. Doughiska is a unique, culturally diverse community with at least 33 different nationalities living in the area. As a result we stock some speciality African Haircare & Skincare ranges, and Eastern European Skincare & Bodycare products. The population of Doughiska is exceptionally young, with the estimated average age being 25 years. Many of our customers are families with young children. We have installed an IKC Play Module, imported from the Netherlands, to keep the kids occupied and happy, giving Mom or Dad time to shop,or ask for advice in peace. Customers waiting for their prescriptions to be filled can also relax and avail of our Homemedics massage chair, giving them a nice relaxing back massage while they wait. All of our business decisions and policies are made with the sole aim of enhancing the experience of our customers, and building on our long term relationships with the community we serve. Located in the Doughiska Retail Centre between Centra & Jack Jordans Take Away we are open Monday - Saturday 9am - 6pm.

Maybe wellbeing isn’t always about learning something new.

Sometimes, it’s simply about connection.

Life gets busy, and it’s surprisingly easy to look up and realise it’s been a while since we sat down, slowed down and had a proper, unhurried conversation with other people.

That’s one of the quieter benefits of the Your Wellbeing REVAMP programme that I love most.

Yes, we’ll explore practical tools for mindfulness, relationships, positive emotions, breathing, thinking patterns, strengths and vitality.

But there’s something else happening too.

For one evening a week, you get out of the house, step away from the usual demands and spend time in a warm room with a small group of people on the same journey.

You leave with some practical tools.

But hopefully, you also leave feeling a little more connected.

And as the autumn evenings draw in, having one thing in the diary each week that’s just for you can make a real difference.

We start Monday, 21st September at 7.30pm in The Sanctuary, Clarinbridge, and the room is almost full.

If you’re on the fence and would like to know more, just message me INTERESTED and I’ll send you the details, so you can have a look and decide for yourself.

When we talk about improving our wellbeing, the conversation often starts in the same place: Exercise more, eat better, get enough sleep.

All important, of course. But if that was the whole story, wellbeing would be fairly straightforward. And we know it isn’t.

For me, wellbeing is about our ability to feel good and function effectively. And that involves far more than how often we exercise, and what we eat.

It’s about the quality of our relationships. Our ability to be present. How we respond when things don’t go to plan. The stories we tell ourselves. How we regulate our emotions and energy. And the small habits we practice consistently.

That’s the thinking behind Your Wellbeing Revamp. Over eight weeks, we’ll explore eight different areas of wellbeing:

+ Introduction to Wellbeing
+ Positive Emotion
+ Mindfulness
+ Relationships
+ Thinking Traps
+ The Power of Breath
+ Strengths
+ Vitality

So each week we’ll focus on one area, explore the science behind it, and, most importantly, put it into practice.

No sitting there being told all the things you should be doing. We’ll learn by doing. One week. One area. A few practical tools. And another piece of your wellbeing toolkit to take away with you.

If you'd like to come along, just or DM me reply 'INTERESTED' and I'll send you the full details to look over; the pillars, the dates, the lot. No commitment, just everything you need to see if it’s a fit for you.

A quick and exciting one!

As you know, I released my book Your Wellbeing REVAMP last October. I was blown away by the support and very grateful that so many of you read the book and got value and useful tools from it.

One question that many people had was 'How can I turn this knowledge and information into action and real results?'

So this autumn I'm running a brand new 8 week programme ‘Your Wellbeing REVAMP’ in person at The Sanctuary in Clarinbridge.

It’s one evening a week, with a small local group, and a proper step-by-step way to enhance your wellbeing.

Maybe you want to feel steadier, clearer and more like yourself again, or maybe you just enjoy the process of working on yourself, learning new things and meeting good people in the process.

We’ll be learning, practicing and applying the tools, techniques and principles from the book in a fun, engaging and welcoming setting.

I'm finalising the last details as we speak, so I don't have them for you just yet, but I know many of you have already expressed an interest in this type of programme.

Seats are limited as it's a small room.

So here's the only thing to do right now: If you'd like the details before anyone else just reply 'INTERESTED' and I'll add you to the waitlist.

No commitment, you'll simply be first in the queue.

For many pharmacists, a successful day is defined by the numbers.
+ Prescriptions dispensed.
+ Targets achieved.
+ Workload cleared.
+ No dispensing errors.

These things matter and are essential to safe, effective patient care. But are they the only measures of achievement?

In the latest edition of the IPU Review, I explore why many pharmacists finish even their busiest days feeling they haven't done enough. The problem isn't always the workload, but the way we've learned to define success.

What if a successful day also included:
+ Reassuring an anxious patient.
+ Supporting a colleague through a difficult shift.
+ Learning something new.
+ Showing kindness during a challenging interaction.
+ Staying calm under pressure.

These moments may never appear on a performance dashboard, but they are often the most meaningful parts of our work.

Achievement isn't just about outcomes. It's also about recognising progress, celebrating small wins, developing our strengths, and remembering the difference we make every single day.

When we broaden our definition of success, we don't lower our standards, we create a more sustainable, fulfilling way to thrive in a profession operates at the frontline.
