Happy Winter Solstice! ❄️

This space will be changing a bit, and there might be a bit more silence from me as I am re-shifting my focus. I am curious and excited to see how it will all evolve.

I have also prepared for you a ritual or an invitation to mark this Winter Solstice. Enjoy, keep in touch and stay kind!

Find a comfortable seated position, feel your sitbones plugged into the earth. Your spine is tall, body receptive, and alert. The tips of your fingers are quiet, and the tip of your tongue is also quiet. The heart softens. And with this upright posture feel that the body is open to the breath, like....

Yesterday I travelled to Ennistimon to guide a Forest Therapy session for Hometree Autumn Experience/Volunteer week participants. It was such a wonderful day, truly grateful to have spent the day with all these inspiring people and baby trees. Thank you.

“It is time now, I said,
for the deepening and quieting of the spirit
among the flux of happenings.”
- Mary Oliver

Went for a swim yesterday at sunset, completely spontaneously, felt it in my bones that I need to go to the ocean. It was pure magic, truly a time for ‘the deepening and quieting of the spirit’.

Thank you for healing and holding me, saltwater waves.

Stay kind. 🤍

~ AUTUMN EQUINOX FOREST THERAPY SESSION with Baiba

Join us on Sunday, September 18, 8.00 a.m., Barna Woods to celebrate the change of seasons, the transition between light and darkness.

Autumn Equinox is the time of the year when day and night are in balance. Autumn is a transitional season between Summer and Winter, while darkness and light is in balance it is time to prepare for the winter ahead, a time of deep rest and nourishment.

The meditations, rituals, practices and invitations that the Forest Therapy Guide teaches are inspired by the Shinrin-Yoku, the art of bathing in the forest or the art of immersion in nature. Forests are living and breathing ecosystems, and there are numerous benefits to spending more time out in nature and near trees, some of these benefits among others include - reduced stress, increased immunity, lower blood pressure, improved sleep quality and overall wellbeing.

Book via link in below. Stay kind. 🤍

A valuable and fascinating research is being carried out in the UK (if you know of any other similar ones, please let me know) about how different woodlands (size, level of biodiversity and so on) improve our wellbeing.

It is widely known that being outdoors in contact with nature reduces stress and improves our overall wellbeing. The research described in the article could help us understand the best ways we can improve and plant future woodlands in countryside as well as create parks and wild spaces within cities, offering access to nature to everyone.

Have a read and let me know what you think! Stay kind.

Research project aims to discover how age, size and shape of woodlands affect people’s happiness and wellbeing

I had an honour of guiding couple of Forest Therapy sessions at Hometree Ardnaculla Summer School, June 24-26. Always in awe of Hometree's hands-on rewilding work and ways they gather community.

It was such a wonderful and magical experience. We started one of the sessions at Hometree's Tree Nursery and then made our way towards the oldest tree on the site - a hawthorn, well over 100 years old. We explored our way from a seed to an ancient tree, imagining what experiences they have had.

The roots of the practice of forest therapy come from a Japanese practice of forest bathing or shinrin-yoku, and I always try to give my respects to the traditions. After guiding the practice I was so humbled to receive compliments and talk with a woman from Japan. We had a wonderful conversation about trees, plants and the sound of insects, and their lack of in Ireland.

Thank you to everyone who joined me and were open to the practice, thank you for your compliments, words of support and passion for Nature. I always go in with a plan and then toss it out, as the people who join the practice really guide me. Nature is our teacher within and around. We just have to listen.

🔆Happy Summer Solstice!

The longest day of the year is here! Although, here in Galway it is filled with grey vastness, as sun was rising it felt like silver light is filling up the room. I headed outside to walk barefoot among the grasses, to soak up the energy of the earth.

I have prepared a little invitation for you today, you can find it via link in bio.

🌾This past Sunday, June 19, we gathered to celebrate Summer Solstice with the practice of Forest Therapy and Wildflower Crown Making.

We started the morning in Barna Woods by opening our five senses and our sixth sense, the sense of wonder. With that we explored landscape around before the practice of earthing.

We then sat down to make our very own wildflower crowns while enjoying a cup of .

It was a gorgeous morning, and I am grateful to each and one of you who trusted me to guide you in this practice. 🤍

Stay kind.
