To celebrate the start of 🌈 🌈 I'd like to let you all know about this superb new picture book by Nia Roberts. Let's all say YES! I first saw this beautiful book, which was published in May, reviewed by Jo from The Little Literary Society. I loved the sound of it. It reminded me and my kids Mixed, but this book goes further. It also reminded them of Press Here but I think they just like books with spots!

It is never too early to speak to children about love. Inclusive love. A complex concept? By using shapes and colours to explain inclusivity and acceptance, Nia Roberts makes it so accessible to children of all ages.I love picturebooks that can span from Preschool to 6th class. It's gently repetitive, so its message is clear to younger readers.
Brightly illustrated spots and blocks can love spots and/or blocks and/or different coloured spots and blocks. And guess what? Not all shapes are spots and blocks either. The social concept of binary gender tackled beautifully. But some shapes say No, that's not how it is done. The response/refrain is "That's not fair. Love is Love, isn't it?" The author challenges you to think why? Why would we accept the No? This book can be used as a support for parents and adults who want to open up discussions with children. You can love who you want to love and be who you want to be. It really is that simple. The tone of the book at the end is so celebratory. Let's all say YES to this amazing, impactful new book.

What Feelings do when no one's looking by Tina Oziewicz and Aleksandra Sając
A newly discovered book is always a delight!
This one is a unique imagining of what feelings do when they have a minute to themselves. Brilliant for emotions vocabulary development. I brought it home for my big kids to have a read. Questions like what does nostalgia mean and contentment came up. As well as great vocabulary, the illustrations are wonderful and we examined and discussed them. Published first in Poland, it is available from Eason, but I'd like to direct my bookshops friends to swipe to what delight is....
