☘️💚☘️What happened to you? For many people, the question they have carried for years is: “What is wrong with me?” Why am I so sensitive? Why do I struggle when others seem to cope? Why do I feel like I’m not enough? What if we asked a different question? What happened to you that made you believe something was wrong with you? Shame is painful because it doesn’t say: “I made a mistake.” It says: “There is something wrong with me.” That critical voice inside us usually did not appear from nowhere. It may have developed through experiences where we felt criticised, misunderstood, rejected, or like parts of ourselves were too much or not enough. For many people who have spent years feeling different or unseen, shame can become a heavy burden. Healing is not about pretending everything is fine or forcing yourself to love every part of yourself straight away. Someone drowning in shame often cannot jump straight into love. They might begin with curiosity. Because curiosity is a much kinder bridge. Instead of: “What is wrong with me?” Try: “Where did I learn to believe this about myself?”, “What am I carrying?”, “What do I need right now?”, Do not bypass the pain. Understand it. Self-acceptance begins when we stop fighting against ourselves & start listening to ourselves. The opposite of shame is not perfection. It is compassion & recognising that you are human. ☘️💚☘️
