From Hamble Valley Health. Some ways to encourage healthy habits with children.

Helping children build healthy habits early can support their wellbeing now and in the future πŸ’™

Healthy habits don’t have to mean big changes. Small steps each day can make a real difference πŸ‘

Some simple ways to encourage healthy habits include:
β€’ eating meals together as a family
β€’ drinking more water instead of sugary drinks
β€’ reducing screen time and encouraging active play
β€’ getting enough sleep
β€’ involving children in shopping and cooking 🍎

Children often learn by example, so positive role modelling can help encourage healthy eating, movement and balanced routines πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

Healthy habits are about supporting overall wellbeing, confidence and long-term health rather than focusing on weight alone πŸ’«

Good sleep is also important for growing children, helping with learning, mood and energy levels 😴

Remember, every family is different and small, realistic changes are often the easiest to maintain πŸ’™

Today is the last day of Men’s Health Week. We hope you have found the information we shared over the last 7 days, interesting & helpful. The final theme today is β€˜Get Connected’. You might not think that being connected with friends of family regularly helps you. Looking at the attached poster, you will see how staying connected will help with your overall wellbeing.

πŸ”… Day 6 - Let’s Get PhysicalπŸ”…

Sometimes life gets too busy and there is little time left for exercise. All of a sudden, two years have passed and you can’t remember the last time you went for a decent walk or went to the gym. We need to remember that physical exercise has many health benefits. Some are in our poster below, with more detail in Action Man manual:

πŸ”… Day 5 - Be Mind Fit πŸ”…

As men focus on their physical health & fitness, only a small % of men remember to consider their mental health and fitness. This could be due a sense of male pride, or similar. Being open to talk about what’s on your mind can actually help you and others, and could save somebody’s life!

πŸ”… Day 4 - Rethink What You Drink πŸ”…

Most of us know that drinking alcohol excessively can have harmful effects. Did you know that alcohol has been proven by research to have been involved in cancer cases in men, and women to a lesser extent, in Ireland?

For recommendations on how to drink less, the Action Man manual is a great tool to consider.
Some examples include using smaller glasses if drinking at home, and avoiding 'rounds'.

Eating healthily benefits everybody. From the HSE and safeFood to Men's Health Forum in Ireland, men can see their options when considering a more healthy food plan. Click this link for more information.

πŸ”†MEN’s HEALTH WEEK - One Step At A Time! πŸ”†
πŸ”… Day 2 - Prevention Is Better Than Cure πŸ”…

Unfortunately, research shows that men don’t attend their G.P. for a health check as often as they should. That can result in progressing health issues that could have been mdiscovered earlier. Healthy eating and having a more healthy lifestyle can help with your overall wellness in the long term.

There are lots of great recommendations in the Action Man manual:
