Good morning all,
My theme of the day and for class tonight is "Chop Wood, Carry Water" a zen proverb but what does it mean?
In this day and age most of us do not physically chop wood or carry water (excepting the amazing farmers) but we do have many daily tasks that need to be done.
This proverb says; before enlightenment Chop Wood, Carry Water, after enlightenment, Chop Wood, Carry Water.
So no matter how developed you are, you still have to do these daily tasks. They keep us grounded and real.
It also to me means accepting we have to do daily tasks and making the best of it, do them with intention and attention. We all know if we don't pay attention when chopping wood it could be disastrous! But also in other tasks not being present in the body can lead to injury...like that time you burnt your hand or cut your finger instead of the carrot. 🙈
Physically chopping wood and carrying water are very exerting activities and require power, balance and core control.
So tonight's class will be incorporating some chopping PNF moves and of course lots of attention to core!
Join me at 7pm in Glaslough Pariochial hall
