Our friends at Active Tribe Courtown Adventure & Leisure Courtown are hosting one of our life-saving QPR Su***de Prevention Workshops this Sunday.

QPR โ€” Question, Persuade, Refer โ€” is an evidence-based training programme that gives participants practical skills to recognise the warning signs of su***de, ask the question directly, listen with empathy, encourage someone to seek help, and connect them with the right support.

The workshop takes place at Active Tribe Courtown on Sunday, 6 September, from 9.30amโ€“4.30pm.

Places are limited โ€” and are just โ‚ฌ10 per person, including a light lunch. No previous experience is required. Suitable for community members, workplaces, coaches, teachers, volunteers, and anyone who wants to be better prepared to support someone in crisis.

Book your place at activetribe.ie or contact (053) 942 5354.

Best of luck to all receiving their exam results tomorrow.

Whether your results are exactly what you hoped for, or not quite what you expected, remember: this is only one chapter in your journey. There is still a world of opportunities ahead.

The most important A, B and C are not the ones on a results sheet, but the ones that shape your story. Exams measure papers, not people.

Take care of yourself, stay safe, and remember that Futures In Mind is here for you. ๐Ÿ’š

Words matter.

When someone survives a su***de attempt, describing it as โ€œfailedโ€ can carry a meaning we may not intend.

They did not fail.
They survived.

That difference matters. It recognises the person, the pain they have experienced, and the fact that they are still here.

The language we use can either add stigma or create space for dignity, compassion and support.

Sometimes changing a few words can change the way we see someone.

Words can harm. Words can heal.

When someone is labelled โ€œattention-seeking,โ€ we can miss what they may actually be communicating: โ€œIโ€™m in pain. I need help.โ€

Changing the language changes the response. Instead of judgement, choose curiosity. Instead of dismissing behaviour, recognise distress. Sometimes what looks like attention-seeking is a person trying to find a way to be seen, heard and supported.

Meet Mary, one of our most dedicated senior volunteers.

Mary is an invaluable part of Futures In Mind. Despite facing challenges in her own life, she continues to show up for others, generously offering her time, kindness and support to people across the community.

Over the years, Mary has contributed to many areas of our organisation, from supporting our stores to helping in our centres. She will soon begin a new role within our upcoming child and adolescent training programme.

Her resilience, compassion and generosity are exceptional, and words cannot fully express how grateful we are for everything she does. Mary is a true blessing to our organisation and community, and she is genuinely one of a kind. ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Su***de warning signs can look different from person to person. Sometimes they are clear. Sometimes they are quiet changes that are easy to miss.

Someone may withdraw, speak about feeling hopeless, give away belongings, take more risks, or talk more often about death. These signs do not always mean someone is suicidal, but they are always worth taking seriously.

If you are worried about someone, trust that instinct. Reach out gently. Listen without judgement. Stay with them if they are in immediate danger, and help them
contact emergency or crisis support.

A calm conversation can be the first step towards safety.
