❄️🍁Weathering the seasons Wednesday ☀️🌸

Day three of Nursing Homes week - residents enjoyed matching all the nature items to their respective seasons.
We also discussed what other nature items could be added and we also shared our favourite memories of the seasons such as Christmas wreath making and Spring when the lambs and chicks appear 🐥

We also talked about what we could potentially plant in the garden and our favourite herbs, fruits and vegetables. ( Apple, Leeks and blackberries seem to be a joint favourite! )

Day two of nursing homes week 💚

This afternoon residents were taken on a memory nature walk. Items were placed around the garden to see if they could recall what they saw. From teddys bears picnic, robins, butterflies, ladybirds, dogs, rotary phone and record players - they had a great time looking for them.

We also enjoyed picking and identifying some of the lovely plants we have here in our garden 💐

Greystones Nursing Home are marking the first day of nursing homes week with style!

This morning residents had a yoga session with the wonderful Parag. Residents felt very relaxed and ready for a positive day ahead.

This afternoon the residents enjoyed planting some autumn violas into teacups. These will be placed with pride on our tables for our upcoming barbecue!

Gardening has proven to have profound physical, mental, and emotional benefits for older adults. It is lovely to see our residents engaging with nature and finding their green thumb 😊

A huge comhghairdeas to Wicklow on winning the Tailteann cup!
It was a hard fight with only 14 men left at the end but we are delighted to say we won with a final score of Down 2-16 Wicklow 1-21.

HCA Supervisor Niamh got to see the action in person and even got to see the Sam Maguire cup.

Good luck to our sister nursing home Sunhill Nursing Home supporting Louth against Mayo this evening!
