When its NOT Therapy Time ⬇️

Attending therapy may be the best decision you will ever make for yourself but there are times when it may not be the right time for you!

1. Attending 1:1 therapy because of relationship problems may not be enough for your relationship to improve as often in this case relationship counselling may be more suitable and beneficial for you both to work through your problems together!

2. A person in Crisis may need other interventions i.e. support from a mental health nurse, social worker, support worker, psychiatrist, medication, occupational therapist, prior to attending 1:1 therapy.

3. If you need a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) because you need a variety of mental health professionals to help with your presenting problems and with your journey to recovery then it’s important to see where this is available as lots of private therapy services may not have this option!

4. Your attending therapy because someone else wants you to go and you don’t want to do it for yourself! Commitment and motivation to change is necessary for therapy to be effective! Do it for you first if you go for therapy!

This Strategy will Calm your Mind…..

Worrying can take up so much of our time and heighten your anxiety!

Most of the lot of the time what we are worrying about is unlikely to even happen…..

Follow these steps to Manage your Worry:

1. Become aware of your worry and acknowledge that this is a Worry.
2. If the worry is about a real/current problem that is happening in your life then take action on solving the problem rather than worrying about it!

If the worry is about what you fear may happen in the future (hypothetical worry) ⬇️

2. Acknowledge the worry and postpone to come back to the Worry later.
3. Refocus your attention back to the here and now and the task you are doing in the here and now.
4. Worry postponement works because what you will learn is when you come back to the Worry later it is most likely not have happened or your perspective and feelings towards the Worry have shifted where it doesn’t bother you anymore!

You can choose to spend your time worrying about awful situations that you think will happen in the future or postpone your worries until later to find out what you can learn from this technique!

This really does work and can really help with reducing both Worry & Anxiety!
