That sharp pain when you put your foot on the floor first thing in the morning.
Most people know the feeling. You swing your legs out of bed, take your first step, and it hits you. A stabbing pain right into the heel.
So you rest it for a few days. Maybe you buy new runners. You roll it on a ball, stretch the calf off the stairs, and wait for it to go away.
And sometimes it eases off. Until it doesn’t.
The reason so many people struggle with plantar fasciitis for months, sometimes longer, is that they’re treating the heel when the heel isn’t really the whole problem.
The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that runs along the sole of your foot. When it gets overloaded, it becomes painful. But what caused the overload? That’s the question most people never get a proper answer to.
Could be a sudden jump in activity. Could be tight calves or weak foot muscles. Could be a demanding job that has you on your feet all day. There’s nearly always a reason.
At Compass Physio, we don’t just settle the pain and send you on your way. We figure out why it started so it doesn’t keep coming back.
We’ve put together a full guide covering what plantar fasciitis actually is, the 3 mistakes that make it worse, and 3 exercises that genuinely help.
