How incredible to see

Wonderful colourised photo of Longford from Out and About Longford page is certainly worth sharing.

The central building was the Market House( burned in the 1960s) and rebuilt. It's now Dealz.

Behind is a Weigh Bridge.

And further back is the canal harbour, a busy spot in its day. Behind that again is the harbour master's house - still standing. The meadow with the c***s of hay is now Aldi,Costa etc.

To the right of the harbour is an other store house..block of apartments today.

To the front of the Market House, is the Cenotaph - which was moved in the last few years.

Many people wonder about the origin of Harbour Row or Harbour House. It's dates back to when a spur from the Royal Canal was constructed to the heart of Longford, predating the railway. Rather than preserve the amenity , the council, despite local opposition filled it in.

The construction of the Royal Canal started in 1790 and reached the Shannon 27 years later.
It cost just under 1.5 m pounds.

Today I took part in the Causeway Coast Challenge and spent today walking the furthest distance I have ever walked. An enjoyable but challenging day exploring the beautiful coast of Northen Ireland.

It's pretty remarkable to see the distance you can cover just by putting one foot in front of the other.

Today was nail surgery day in Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic and it was a very successful day at that. Look at the spicule we removed today.

Every month we run a clinic dedicated entirely to the painless, permanent removal of ingrown toenails. This is done under local anaesthetic and an acid called phenol is applied to prevent the problematic nail from growing back.

This patient should notice immediate relief now that the painful spicule of nail has been removed and the nail surgery site should be fully healed in the next 6 to 8 weeks with some gentle cleansing and dressing over the next few weeks under our guidance.

If you or someone you know is suffering with a painful, reoccurring ingrown toenail then get in touch on 0861428390.

Please note a pre-op assessment is always required to ascertain a patient's suitability for the procedure before it can be carried out.

Since March 2023 the term 'Podiatrist' became a regulated and protected title and only those on the CORU register can use this title.

Here in Happy Feet Podiatry Clinic both of our Podiatrists are on the CORU register meaning that you are in safe hands. In order to meet CORU requirements we need the appropriate qualification, keep up to date with 60 hours of continous professional development over a two year time period and meet the standards that our profession will always uphold.

By seeing a CORU registered Podiatrist you can also claim your appointments from your health insurance depending on your policy benefits.

If you wish to book an appointment with either of our Podiatrists, Siobhan and Mairèad, call us on 0861428390.
