Seamus' wife Mary, daughter Hannah, son James, sisters Una, Pauline and Ann and the extended family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered support and sympathy following Seamus' passing.

We sincerely thank everyone who offered words of condolences, attended the wake and funeral mass, sent letters, mass and sympathy cards, flowers and to all who brought and prepared refreshments during the wake. We are also deeply grateful to our friends and neighbours who helped in any way during the wake, and to everyone who made donations in Seamus' memory to the Cavan Monaghan Palliative Care Fund.

Our sincere thanks and gratitude to Fr. John Chester for his support to Seamus during his short illness and for the most beautiful Funeral Mass and fitting eulogy to Seamus. We also thank everyone who took part in the mass liturgy, especially the readers, eucharistic ministers and choir, for the beautiful music and singing and to Michael the sacristan in St Tierney’s Church for all his help.

To all the doctors, nurses and carers who cared for Seamus during his illness, we are deeply grateful for your care, compassion and kindness. A special thank you to Dr Azam, Dr O' Dwyer and Dr Wilhelm, Medical Wards 2 & 5 at Cavan General Hospital, the staff at Scotstown Pharmacy and Dr Kieran Bourke and all his staff for all of their care and support. Heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care nurses, District Nurses and Carers at Monaghan/Cavan Palliative care, who not only looked after Seamus with care and compassion but also guided us through the hardest of days. Us, as a family will be forever grateful to them all.

We also sincerely thank Conor & Seamus at Clerkin Funeral Directors for their support, professionalism, compassion and guidance, and the dignified manner in which they they carried out Seamus' funeral arrangements, and to the gravediggers, who were great family and friends to Seamus for taking such care in preparing his final resting place.

A massive thank you, to the Eire Og GAA club, and Seamus' lifelong club friends who went above and beyond to help and support us in so many ways during this time, for conducting the car parking and forming guards of honour on the morning of Seamus' funeral to name just a few.

Thanks also to JP Flowers in Monaghan, for the beautiful flowers, and Café DJ Enniskillen and Roslea Shamrocks GFC for providing refreshments after the funeral.

A special word of thanks to all Seamus’ wonderful neighbours and large circle of friends who visited him at home and in hospital, who helped out and were always there when he needed them during his illness and throughout his life, we are truly grateful.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.

🕊️Clerkin Funeral Directors regret to announce that the death has occurred of Teresa Smyth, Cussee, Scotstown, Monaghan, on Sunday the 26th July, peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the wonderful care of the staff in the Lisdarn Unit in Cavan General Hospital in her 87th year.

Predeceased by her husband Seamus, her sisters Margaret and Kathleen and her brothers Patsy, Pete, Frank and Gerard.

Teresa will be always loved and cherished by her children, Jim (Valerie), Dominic (Mary) Caroline (Karl Cassidy) Jonathan (Christine) and Barbara (Henrique), her beloved and cherished grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her sisters Bernadette (Stephen), Geraldine (Paul), her brother John James (Betty), her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, her nieces and nephews in Ireland, United States and England, her friends, neighbours and all who knew and loved her.

Predeceased by his mum Rosaleen (Deery) Ballantine.



Anthony will be forever loved and cherished by his wife Helen and his children Emily (David) and Rosie (Ryan), Karl and Conor, his 10 treasured grandchildren, his brother George, his sister Leila, nephews David and Alan and his niece Laura, his friends, neighbours and all who knew and loved him.

🕊️Clerkin Funeral Directors regret to announce that the death has occurred of Eamon Hurson, Maspeth, Queens, New York, and formerly of Tyredigen, Smithborough, Co. Monaghan, Wednesday the 15th July, suddenly at his home in New York, surrounded by his heartbroken family.

Eamon is predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Elizabeth Hurson, his niece Eileen, and his nephew Danny

Eamon will be forever loved, deeply missed, and fondly remembered by his heartbroken wife, Angela (née McCarron, Tydavnet, Monaghan), his much-loved and devoted daughters, Rebecca, Bryanna, and Shauna. He will be mourned always by his brothers, Brendan (Kathleen), Frank, Shay (Brigie), Seán (Bernadette), Kevin (Patricia), and Leo (Brigie); his sisters Mary Connolly, Dympna O'Reilly, and Una (Martin Hunt); his many nieces and nephews in Ireland and NewYork, his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, the extended Mc Carron family, his extended family members, his neighbours and many friends in Smithborough, Tydavnet, Chicago, and New York and all who knew and loved him.

Frances is predeceased by her parents and her siblings,Marie, Margaret, Betty, Freddie, Tessie, Peter and Monica.

🕊️Clerkin Funeral Directors regret to announce the death of Mary McKenna (née Brannigan), Drumcondra, Dublin 9, and formerly of Dublin Street, Monaghan Town, who passed away peacefully on 9th July in the loving care of the wonderful staff at Lusk Community Unit.

Mary is predeceased by her husband John, her beloved daughter Bernadette, her parents Bernard and Maggie and her brothers Frank and Benny.

We the family of the late John Daly, The Point, Ballinode, Co. Monaghan who died on the 16th June, would like to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us, on our recent bereavement.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the many friends, extended family and neighbours who visited us at our house and at Clerkins funeral home to attend his wake, and for the support shown to our family at this difficult time. For those who attended the funeral, telephoned, travelled long distances, sent floral tributes, cards and messages of condolences we are truly grateful.

A special word of thanks to staff in Beaumont Hospital, who looked after Dad with kindness and compassion during his last weeks.

We would like to thank Fr. Humphrey Ude and Fr. Macartan Mc Quaid for conducting such a beautiful funeral service, to those who participated in his funeral mass and the crematorium service, from the presentation of the items representing his life, did readings, contributed to his eulogy, distributed communion and provided the beautiful music, thank you all for making this emotional service a memorable one.

To Conor, from Clerkin Funeral Directors, thank you for the advice & support provided, your caring and professional handling of John's removal from Beaumont Hospital to Home, and the attention to detail for the Funeral and Crematorium service, was very dilligent and professional.
