A great initiative from SI Wexford and it is another way for members to get involved! Is your club doing this?

Add some book suggestions below for the club or members across Ireland to consider!

📚 Soroptimists Wexford Book Club Kicks Off with Lively Discussion! 📚

What a fantastic start to our new Soroptimists Wexford Book Club! We had our very first meeting at the cozy Wicked Swan in The Fythe, and it was an absolute blast.

The discussion on Daphne Du Maurier's My Cousin Rachel was so engaging, full of laughter and brilliant insights. As Phil perfectly put it, "I would never have even thought to read this book had it not been picked for me - and I'm really glad I did read it!" Sometimes we need a nudge to step out of our usual reading comfort zone, agreed?

Our book club is just one of the many social activities we enjoy as Soroptimists Wexford. It's a wonderful way to connect, share ideas, and build friendships beyond our important project work.

We'll now be diving into The Sideways Life of Denny Voss by Holly Kennedy. Get ready for another captivating read and some great conversation!

If you're interested in joining a group of women who love to read, chat, and make a difference, why not think about becoming a member of Soroptimists Wexford!

It is wonderful to see Soroptimist clubs around the country holding their AGMs and marking another year of service, friendship and impact.

These moments are an important opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved, to thank those who have given their time and leadership, and to look ahead with energy and purpose.

To all outgoing officers, thank you for your dedication, commitment and service to your clubs and communities. Your leadership has helped to strengthen Soroptimist work locally and nationally.

To all incoming officers, congratulations and welcome. We look forward to working with you over the summer and into the months ahead as we continue to stand up for women and girls.

Here are some photos from Mullingar, Dublin, North Kildare and Castlebar!

Today, on the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, we pause to remember the millions of children around the world whose lives have been affected by conflict, violence, displacement, and persecution.

Every child deserves to grow up safe, loved, protected, and free to learn, play, and dream about their future. Yet for far too many children, particularly girls living in conflict zones, these basic rights remain out of reach.

Conflict and instability can deprive children of education, expose them to exploitation and abuse, and leave lasting physical and emotional scars. Girls are often among the most vulnerable, facing additional barriers to safety, healthcare, and opportunity.

As Soroptimists, we believe that every child deserves safety, hope, and opportunity.

Today, we stand in solidarity with children affected by conflict and recommit ourselves to advocating for a world where every child is protected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Because a world where every child is safe is a world worth building.

🌈 Pride Month 2026 🌈

This Pride Month, Soroptimist International Republic of Ireland stands in solidarity with LGBTQ+ communities across Ireland and around the world.

As Soroptimists, we are committed to a world where all people can live with dignity, equality, and freedom from discrimination. These values are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every person deserves to be safe, respected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Pride is both a celebration and a reminder. It is a celebration of identity, diversity, resilience, and progress. It is also a reminder that many LGBTQ+ people continue to face barriers, prejudice, and inequality in their daily lives.

As an organisation dedicated to educating, empowering, and enabling women and girls, we recognise that inclusion must extend to all members of our communities. We are stronger when diversity is embraced, when voices are heard, and when everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

This month, we celebrate the contributions, achievements, and experiences of LGBTQ+ people. We reaffirm our commitment to creating communities where everyone is welcomed, respected, and able to live authentically.

Together, we can continue to build a more equal, inclusive, and compassionate world.

Happy Pride Month.

More than 120 women from across Ireland gathered in Drogheda for the 58th Soroptimist North South Conference.

The event, hosted at the Marcy Hotel, was organised by National President Siobhán Matthews alongside Drogheda Soroptimist Club President Margaret Geraghty and members of the local club.

This year’s conference explored the theme “Health, Wealth and Politics – The Future Role for Women in Ireland” and brought together speakers from politics, finance, equality, advocacy and civic leadership.

A celebratory lunch was also held to mark the 60th anniversary of the formation of Soroptimist organisations in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The conference focused on issues including political representation, women’s health, financial independence, equality and leadership, while highlighting the importance of ensuring women’s voices remain central in shaping the future of Ireland.
