Mammy Matters Welcome to Mammy Matters, a Kildare based company offering low cost counselling, Skype counselling, support groups and holistic therapies

Mammy Matters, Founded by Joanna Sherlock , sees everyday the effects of social expectation on mother's and how they feel pressured into pretending to feel a certain way when they don't. The fear & shame they feel because of this, and how such heavy stigma prevents them from seeking help or talking to someone. A strong motto of our service is "Let's talk about it". Let's talk about loss of identity and how that feels, let's talk about how I am so often full of anger & irritation. Let's talk about panic & anxiety

Joanna Sherlock is a qualified Counsellor & Psychotherapist. She graduated from Pci with honours in 2010. She has supported people through depression, anxiety, birth trauma, childhood issues, low self esteem and bereavement. She is the founder of Mammy Matters, a qualified Reiki Master & Auricular Acupuncturist (Nada 5 point detox). Joanna was also responsible for setting up the counselling service for the Hoped Foundation. She has a decade of knowledge working with children & families during her career with the HSE. MM was born out of personally experiencing a lack of services specifically for mothers. She has now become exceptionally motivated in providing a high quality service herself. She was also the local counsellor for Nurture charity.

Myself and my lovely friend and colleague Joanna Sherlock are talking Postnatal Depression Thursday 28th April 10.30am.

We'll be live at 10.30am on my business page

I have worked alongside Joanna Sherlock for some years with a charity in the area of pregnancy, miscarriage, birth trauma and postnatal depression.

Maternal mental health is one of the most isolating areas of mental health. it is shrouded with silence and often difficult to talk about.

As a woman, and a parent having experienced pregnancy and birth I have found this time where I was most vulnerable and needed alot of support.

Transitioning to motherhood while also taking care of a newborn baby, sleepless nights and my own body adjusting adds to the challenges.

Next Thursday myself and Joanna get together to talk about Postnatal depression.

Come and join in
