Case of a post-traumatic nail with a disturbed nail plate growth pattern

The patient presented with a deformed toenail following a past injury and a previous procedure during which the nail had been removed. As a result of damage to the nail matrix, the nail began growing back incorrectly, gradually thickening and changing its direction of growth — showing signs of onychogryphosis.

🔍 The following were observed:
▪︎ significant thickening and overgrowth of the nail plate
▪︎ nail deformity
▪︎ disturbed nail growth pattern
▪︎ accumulation of keratin debris
▪︎ discomfort and increased risk of ingrown nail development

🩺 The nail plates were thoroughly cleaned and treated podologically to relieve pressure on the nail folds and prepare the nails for further therapy.
➡︎ The next stage of treatment will involve the application of orthonyxia braces, aimed at gradually correcting the nail growth pattern and reducing the tendency for thickening and ingrown nails.
