๐ŸŽ“ A proud milestone at ICOM!

๐ŸŽ“ A proud milestone at ICOM! ๐ŸŽ‰

Over the past two weeks, we celebrated a very special achievement as Oran and Erika completed their clinical hours and officially finished their Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Osteopathy.

It has been a real privilege to watch them grow over the last five years. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment have been truly inspiring, and I have no doubt they have a bright future ahead as osteopaths. ๐Ÿ‘

A big thank you as well to all the students who shared this journey, and to Linda, our amazing clerical officer, for her constant support in making the clinic such a welcoming place.

Congratulations Oran and Erika โ€” and best of luck in the next chapter! ๐Ÿพ

๐ŸŒ Learning, sharing, and connecting at ICPTO 2026

I had the pleasure of attending the 4th International Conference on Physiotherapy in Oncology, where experts from across the world came together to explore the future of cancer rehabilitation.

From exercise oncology and lymphoedema management to patient empowerment and innovative rehabilitation strategies, the programme highlighted the growing impact of multidisciplinary care in supporting people affected by cancer.

Beyond the excellent scientific content, one of the greatest strengths of the conference was the opportunity to connect with passionate professionals committed to advancing patient care.

Looking forward to applying these insights in clinical practice and continuing the conversation with colleagues across disciplines.

๐Ÿ’‡โ€โ™‚๏ธ Looking back to 2018, when I donated my hair to support children experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment โค๏ธ

At the time, my hair was collected by the amazing team at Hair Bar Cork and donated through the Rapunzel Foundation Ireland, helping provide wigs for children affected by cancer.

This was made possible with the support and encouragement of Colette de Paor, who was working with the Irish Cancer Society while I was working at Bon Secours Hospital Cork.

It felt good thenโ€ฆ and honestly, it still feels good now.

Iโ€™d absolutely do it again if I still wore my hair that long โ€” and definitely not because most of it is white and grey nowadays ๐Ÿ˜‚

Jokes aside, gestures like this may seem small, but they can mean a great deal to someone going through an incredibly difficult time.

So if youโ€™ve ever been thinking about cutting long hair, maybe consider donating it. One haircut could genuinely help restore confidence, comfort, and a sense of normality to a child facing cancer treatment.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in supporting patients and families every day ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿง  European Mental Health Week

Not all struggles are visible.

Many people are carrying stress, grief, burnout, anxiety, chronic pain, loneliness, or exhaustion while still trying to function normally every day.

Sometimes support starts with very simple things:
๐Ÿ’ฌ listening
๐Ÿšถ movement
โ˜€๏ธ rest
๐Ÿค community
โค๏ธ kindness
๐Ÿ“ž asking for help

Mental health is not separate from physical health โ€” the body and mind constantly influence each other.

This week is a good reminder that checking in on people matters more than we often realise.

If you or someone you know is struggling, these organisations provide excellent information and support:
