On behalf of Sean, Terry, the staff and all the residents at St. Anthony’s Nursing home, we would like to congratulate our wonderful colleague Jackie on reaching the huge milestone of 18 years service at our home. There probably isn’t a single role Jackie hasn’t worked in but no matter what position she is in, she gives it 120%. Finding someone like Jackie is extremely rare… she is kind, understanding and empathic but on the other hand she is pure cracked, always laughing and the first to volunteer to sing a song. Residents absolutely love her and she creates the most fantastic atmosphere here in our home. There is always fun, always laughter, always devilment with Jackie around. As a colleague, she is one of the best. She always has your back, is so loyal and the first to help out even when she is busy herself. We have been so lucky to see Jackie branch out to activities in recent times and she brings so much fun and energy to the team. One simple game of boules can and up sounding like the gold cup winner at Cheltenham 😂
Jackie you are very special to us all here, unique and without a doubt, the one we all want to work with and have on our team. Congratulations Jackie, or as she is affectionately known as, “Muscles from Brussels” and here’s to at least 18 more 👏 👏 👏

We enjoyed a fabulous trip out to the Lakeside Hotel for our annual Summer day out. Good food, great company and plenty of entertainment made for a wonderful day out for all. We were joined by the lovely residents, staff and family members from Ashlawn Nursing home and it was lovely to get to know others within our nursing home communities. A huge thank you to the staff at the hotel for their kindness, patience and professionalism shown to all in attendance, it was very much appreciated. A special mention of thanks to our good friend Catherine Lewis who was instrumental in the organising of today’s trip.
A wonderful afternoons entertainment followed that had everyone up on the dance floor enjoying themselves. Lots of new friendships and memories made.
Thank you to Kelly Travel as always for providing a safe means of transport for residents and also to O’Dohertys transport for providing wheelchair accessible transport meaning the trip could be fully inclusive.
A big thank you to all family and friends that joined us, these days are special days and so important in keeping residents active.
Last but not least to our wonderful team, both with us and those who stayed behind to mind the house, amazing as always 👏 👏 👏 The Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre

A huge congratulations to employee of the month for June, the wonderful Mary Ryan Bob. Mary is one of our fabulous health care assistants who is loved and respected by all residents and her fellow colleagues. For such a young girl, she shows maturity way beyond her years with the biggest, most compassionate heart. She is never without a smile on her face, an encouraging word or a listening ear. Mary treats each resident as if they are her own grandparent, she loves and cares dearly for all in her care. She is so loyal to her residents, going way above and beyond her job title and role. She is a friend to all and all have a soft spot for her. Mary is one of those happy people that puts you in good form, it does your soul good to be in her company. Her understanding and ability to work out each residents needs is astonishing. Mary’s presence in a room creates such a calming atmosphere followed by one filled with laughter and fun. Every nursing home needs a Mary Bob, we are so lucky to have her. Well done Mary, you are one in a million. Never stop being you ❤️❤️

Life lately… we enjoyed a beautiful music session with Brian Murray, had a baking class with chef Lukas, got all dolled up by Jenny and Niamh at Maura’s hair salon (thanks girls), lots of co ordination games and exercise and time in the sunshine. Busy bees 🐝 🐝 and of course, lots of ice cream!
