Welcome back, Sophie 😊

We’re delighted to welcome Sophie Coffey back to the clinic for the summer.

As a Primary School Teacher & Educational Support Tutor, Sophie has been part of the Adult & Child Therapy Centre team since 2019, supporting children and families through educational transitions with warmth, understanding and a personalised approach.

Throughout the summer, Sophie will be providing educational support and working with children and young people in the clinic. In September, she’ll also be taking up a teaching post in an autism class while continuing to support students through Saturday 1:1 tutoring sessions and our Arts & Crafts Group.

We’re delighted to welcome Niamh Brady back to the Adult & Child Therapy Centre as part of our Occupational Therapy team.

Niamh is a Senior Occupational Therapist with over nine years of experience supporting children and young people across both public and private healthcare settings.

She has particular expertise in sensory integration, motor skills development and handwriting, and is passionate about helping children build the skills and confidence they need to participate fully in everyday life.

Niamh believes every child has unique strengths and potential. Her assessments are thorough, holistic and tailored to each child’s individual needs, working closely with families, schools and other professionals to develop practical strategies that make a meaningful difference.

We’re delighted to have you back, Niamh, and look forward to the positive impact you’ll continue to make with the children and families who attend our clinic.

🎉 Congratulations, Seán!

We’re delighted to congratulate Seán Masterson on becoming an Accredited Psychotherapist with APCP.

This is a fantastic achievement and reflects Seán’s commitment to supporting young people and adults with professionalism, compassion and care.

Seán takes a collaborative, person-centred approach, tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs and drawing on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support clients through life’s challenges.

For the next couple of months, Seán will be offering online therapy sessions for clients aged 16 years and over living in the Republic of Ireland.

Congratulations once again, Seán, from everyone at the Adult & Child Therapy Centre. We’re delighted to celebrate this milestone and look forward to the positive impact you’ll continue to make in the lives of your clients.

🎨 Arts & Crafts Summer Group for Girls Aged 8–11

Our new Arts & Crafts Summer Group provides a creative and supportive space for girls aged 8–11 to explore painting, collage, clay, mixed media and design activities.

Following a similar structure to our popular LEGO® groups, the programme is designed to encourage creativity, communication, participation and self-expression through engaging, hands-on projects.

Led by Triona, Speech & Language Therapist, and supported by Sophie, Primary School Teacher, each session is calm, structured and sensory-aware, with opportunities for girls to share ideas, take part in creative challenges and build confidence through creativity.

Programme Details

• Girls aged 8–11
• 6-week programme
• Cost: €250
• Starting July 2026
• Small group setting
• Consultation call available

Alongside new subjects and routines, children are also adapting to new expectations, greater independence and a different school environment.

In this carousel, we’ve highlighted some of the key skills that can help children feel more prepared for the move to 1st year.

Our Getting Ready for Secondary School workshop supports the development of communication, organisation, emotional regulation and independence skills through fun activities and practical strategies.

We are delighted to welcome Sophia Idowu, Qualified Play Therapist and Creative Psychotherapist, who will be offering appointments from the Adult & Child Therapy Centre from late June.

Sophia works with children and adolescents aged 4–18, providing a safe, supportive and child-centred space where young people can explore emotions, worries and life experiences at their own pace.

Sophia supports children and young people experiencing:

• Anxiety, worry and emotional overwhelm
• Low confidence and self-esteem
• Emotional regulation and expression
• School-related stress and performance anxiety
• Family change, loss and transitions
• Trauma and challenging life experiences
• ADHD and emotional wellbeing

With over a decade of experience working with children, young people and families, Sophia uses play, creative therapies and evidence-based approaches to help young people feel understood, supported and empowered.

Sophia also offers parent consultations, recognising the important role parents play in supporting their child’s emotional wellbeing.
