Summer brings sunshine, beach days, festivals, and outdoor adventures!

While you're protecting your skin with sunscreen, don't forget about your ears.

If you wear hearing aids or earbuds, extreme heat and humidity can damage the electronics and cause moisture buildup.

Protect yourself:
🎧 Store devices in a cool, dry place when not in use
🎧 Use a dehumidifying case in humid climates
🎧 Avoid leaving devices in a hot car

Summer brings sunshine, beach days, festivals, and outdoor adventures!

While you're protecting your skin with sunscreen, don't forget about your ears.

Outdoor concerts, music festivals often hit 100-120+ decibels. Loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage in minutes.

Protect yourself:
πŸ‘‚ Wear musician earplugs (they reduce volume without muffling sound quality)
πŸ‘‚ Take breaks in quieter areas
πŸ‘‚ Keep some distance from speakers

Summer brings sunshine, beach days, festivals, and outdoor adventures!

While you're protecting your skin with sunscreen, don't forget about your ears.

Frequent water exposure softens the skin in your ear canal, making it easier for bacteria to take hold. Earwax is your ear’s natural protector, but frequent time in the water can cause it to swell and create a blockage.
Quick tips:
βœ” Dry ears gently
βœ” Avoid cotton buds
βœ” Get wax checked if symptoms persist

The hidden cost of untreated hearing loss

When you can't hear every word clearly, your brain goes into overdrive. It works harder to fill in the blanks and it may seem effortless, but it comes at a cost.

Over time the extra mental effort leads to fatigue, frustration, isolation and irritability. Many people begin avoiding conversations, or staying quiet or just following other people's cues for communication. The truth is, the brain is working much harder than it should just to understand everyday speech.

Untreated hearing loss doesn't just affect your ears, it can impact your energy, communication, relationships and overall quality of life.

Early treatment can make conversations easier, reduce listening fatigue, help you improve relationship and keep you connected to the people around you. The worst decision is to ignore the problem.

Today we recognise Cochlear Implant Awareness Day πŸ’™

How does a cochlear implant work:

πŸ”Ή The external processor picks up sound
πŸ”Ή Sound is converted into digital signals
πŸ”Ή The internal implant sends electrical signals directly to the hearing nerve
πŸ”Ή The brain interprets these signals as sound

Technology + rehabilitation + multidisciplinary care = life-changing outcomes.

Did you know that hearing aids aren’t the solution for everyone?

For people with severe to profound hearing loss, a cochlear implant can provide access to sound by directly stimulating the hearing nerve.

Cochlear implants can:
✨ Improve speech understanding
✨ Support language development in children
✨ Increase independence and confidence
✨ Enhance connection with loved ones

From initial assessment to surgery, activation, and rehabilitation, each stage of the journey is supported by a team committed to guiding the patient every step of the way.

If hearing aids are no longer enough, it may be time to explore other options.
