🌱 Ayurveda Series 🌿

What are the Gunas?

The 3 Gunas are Sattva, Rajas and Tamas.

They exist in everything.

In simple terms:
Sattva represents balance ⚖️
Rajas represents movement 🏃🏼
Tamas represents inactivity 😴

We need all 3 in life but sometimes they become out of balance, with awareness we can see patterns, habits and work to lead a more balanced life.

What are the doshas?

We are all made up of a unique combination of the 5 elements - space, air, fire, water & earth.

The combination of elements makes 3 doshas - vata, pitta and kapha.

We all have all 3 doshas in unique proportions.

Your unique combination of doshas is your prakrati.

Our doshas can go out of balance so if we understand the doshas we can understand how to come back into balance!

What is Ayurveda?

You might have heard the word before or it might be new to you, maybe you know a lot about Ayurveda.

Ayurveda isn't anything new, it's not a fad, it's actually over 5,000 years old and was described in the Vedas, the ancient texts composed in ancient Sanskrit. The word Veda means "knowledge".

Ayurveda is the science of life or the science of yoga.

Ayurveda is the science of daily life and healing, focusing on diet, herbs, and routines. Yoga is the practice of-self awareness, breath, and meditation to unite the body, mind, and spirit. Together, they create a complete system for health.

A bit about me:
I am a Senior Yoga Teacher, Pilates Teacher, Ayurvedic Yogic Lifestyle Coach and Reiki Practitioner, I am a dedicated student with over 13 years of personal practice and more than 1,000 hours of teacher training.
My approach is warm and light-hearted, while remaining deeply rooted in the ancient traditions and wisdom of these practices. I create supportive spaces where people of all levels and abilities can feel welcome, with variations available for different needs and injuries.
Through my classes and offerings, I take a holistic approach, working with the whole self to support and strength overall wellbeing.
