I’ll be at The Woodsman’s Realm today with a selection of alcohol-free botanical mocktails made using Alchemilla’s herbal glycerites.

Why do herbal glycerites taste sweet?

The sweetness comes naturally from the vegetable glycerin used to extract the herbs. It gives the finished nectar its smooth, syrupy texture while still allowing the flavour of the plants to come through.

Grá is softer and more floral.
Sovereign is greener and more herbaceous.

Both can be enjoyed in tea, still water or sparkling water as part of a simple botanical ritual. I even take them directly under my tongue!

You do not need an elaborate ritual to practice self-care.

Add 1–2 ml of botanical nectar to water, tea or your favourite beverage.

Before the first sip, put both feet on the ground and take one slow breath.

Then ask:
What do I need right now?

Grá is the ritual I reach for when I need softness, compassion and a return to self-trust.

Sovereign is for the moments when I need steadiness, clearer boundaries and a stronger sense of self.

One measured dropper.

One intentional pause.

Summer in West Cork is beautiful, but as someone with an excessively hot constitution, these heat waves catch me off guard. If you also run hot, you know the drill: constantly flushed, cold showers are pure bliss, and humid days are a test of endurance.

(And to my fellow SSRI girlies with the intense, out-of-nowhere heat flashes—I know you feel me on this! 🫠)

Instead of shocking our systems with freezing ice water, herbal energetics teaches us to work with the body using plants that carry a naturally cooling nature to pull heat out:

🌹 Rose Water Face Spritz: Moves trapped heat away from the skin's surface, instantly calming a flushed face.
