Hi everyone we're wondering if any of you would have any information about a man called Pat O'Brien who was a Kileenduff native born circa 1860. His parents were John O'Brien and Anne Connolly, and he had 14 half brothers and sisters from his father's second marriage to Mary Moloney.

He worked in Sligo in O'Connor & Cullen Timber, Slate & Iron merchants before moving to Dublin. He married and had 6 daughters.

He held a pub called the Crystal Quay in 1903,1904,1905 and 1906 (years license was granted) and lived in St Josephs St on the North Circular Road near the Mater Hospital.

Pat died in June 1910 aged 50 and was buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, However his wife's name is not present on the headstone and it's unknown to Pat's local relatives what became of his family after his death. If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated!

New books now available about the Easkey Coastline

We're delighted to say we have a new book available to purchase from Easkey House & Heritage Centre. It contains loads of fascinating information about the Easkey coastline and the way people once relied on and utilised it in their everyday lives. A fascinating booklet, the information was provided to us by Eugene Conlon who was raised right beside the sea. Books cost €3.50 and will also be available to order online.

Some of the new signatures added to our visitor book... Congressman Brendan Boyle, his brother State Speaker of the House Kevin Boyle and their father, a native of Glencomcille Co. Donegal, Francis Boyle. Brendan and Kevin have strong familial ties to Easkey on their maternal side with both their grandparents and great-grandmother hailing from the parish. We were overjoyed to welcome them to the Heritage Centre and to our town.

Democratic Congressman Brendan Boyle from Philadelphia will be visiting Easkey on August 15th 2017. Brendan has great connections with Cloonenmore, Rathlee, Easkey. His Maternal grandparents and great grandmother are all from Cloonenmore.

He will be in Easkey Community Centre at 10am on the morning of the 15th August. Anybody that wishes to come to meet and greet him will be most welcome

Brendan's maternal Great Grandmother Mary Ellen Harrison, Cooga, married a Mayo man, Michael Walsh. Their son Josie Walsh married Celia Wall and they immigrated to the USA. They had one daughter, Eileen, now deceased. She married Frances Boyle, a Donegal man, and they in turn had two sons: Brendan and Kevin.
