We listen closely to your feedback! Our evaluation feedback sheets given out regularly told us you wanted more kitchen time, cooking, and baking activities with our wonderful HCAs and we are more than happy to deliver. 🧁

Yesterday, our fabulous HCA Claire teamed up with our clients to whip up some delicious banana bread!

We know that when you are on a journey of recovering from an eating disorder, the kitchen and the act of cooking can feel like genuinely terrifying territory. At every step of the way, we believe in meeting you right where you’re at. There is no rush and no pressure just gentle encouragement, dedicated time, and a safe space to try when you feel ready. 💛

Feeling so grateful and lucky to have attended one of Olivia // The Light Practice incredible soul session groups.

Developing and supporting your mind-body connection is so vital, and experiencing how truly transformative holistic practices like Reiki, journaling, and cacao ceremonies can be is hard to put into words. Taking that intentional downtime to rest, be at one with yourself, and do something to fill your own cup is the ultimate form of self-care. It allows you to stay present while releasing worries, stress, and anxiety.

I felt deeply honored to be in Olivia’s space. She held the group with such grace, creating a safe, welcoming environment where everyone felt comfortable and allowed to go entirely at their own pace.

It is profoundly beneficial. I highly, highly recommend her practice to anyone looking to reconnect and heal.

What an incredible afternoon spent celebrating 30+ years of Bodywhys 💙💛
I was truly honored to attend the launch of the Bodywhys 2025 Annual Report. It was a privilege to hear Minister speak about the advancements being made within the HSE to support those navigating eating disorders, while also acknowledging the vital work that still lies ahead.
It was inspiring to hear from the Bodywhys team especially CEO Harriet Parsons about the reach of their community support connecting individuals and families right where they are. A massive highlight was hearing from Kathy Downes; our team at Lois Bridges was so grateful to have her deliver training for our staff this year. Her insights on psychoeducation and therapeutic approaches are game-changing.
We also learned more about the Inside Out program, a brilliant initiative for adolescents in schools and were deeply moved by the brave stories shared by those with lived experience and their families.
The main takeaway remains clear: accessible, early intervention and the power of human connection are at the heart of recovery. Proud to stand alongside such dedicated advocates in this space.

Supporting a loved one through an eating disorder requires a shift from “fixing” to “connecting.” When someone is in the grips of an eating disorder, conversations around body image, food, and weight can often feel like a minefield.
The most important takeaway for supporters is this: focus on the person, not the presentation.
When a loved one asks, “How do I look?” or expresses distress about their body, they are often seeking reassurance for an internal emotional state that feels overwhelming. While the natural urge is to provide immediate, external validation (e.g., “You look fine”), this can inadvertently reinforce the disorder’s focus on the body.
Instead, we recommend pivoting the conversation toward emotional safety and connection. By validating their feelings such as acknowledging their distress or anxiety you provide a container for them to be heard without placing more emphasis on their physical appearance.
At Lois Bridges, we emphasize that the role of a supporter is not to be a therapist, but to be a constant, non-judgmental presence. Your goal is to foster an environment where they feel safe enough to exist without the constant pressure of body evaluation.
Have you found it challenging to navigate these conversations? Remember, you are their safe space. Focus on connection, not correction. We are all human and trying our best. We all make mistakes and we all need guidance and help at times for mindset growth.

🌿 Finding Peace from Within: Our Weekend at the Yoga Picnic 🌿

This past weekend, our team had the absolute pleasure of attending the local yoga picnic. In the journey of recovery and healing, nurturing the connection between mind, body, and soul is everything. Stepping outside, slowing down, and embracing holistic wellness reminded us just how vital it is to cultivate true inner peace.

Here are a few highlights from a beautifully restorative day:

Discovering Yin Yoga: For many of us, it was our first time trying slow, restorative practices like Yin. Holding gentle poses and focusing on deep breathing allowed us to completely drop into the present moment and practice radical self-compassion.
The Power of Sound: We immersed ourselves in incredible sound baths and rhythmic drumming sessions. The vibrations were deeply grounding, helping to quiet busy minds and release stored tension.
Community & Connection: Beyond the practices, just being together in nature, sharing space, and breathing fresh air reminded us of the beauty of a supportive community.

A Gentle Reminder: Wellness isn’t about perfection or pushing your body to its limits. It’s about listening to what you need, honoring your pace, and finding peace exactly as you are.

We returned to the clinic feeling refreshed, centered, and deeply inspired to bring this calm, holistic energy into our spaces this week.

Did you do anything to nourish your mind and soul this weekend? We’d love to hear in the comments below! 👇

“I’m not sick enough.” It’s a lie that eating disorders use to keep us trapped, convinced we haven’t earned the right to heal.
I recently sat down with Dr. Kielty for a YouTube series to dive deep into the reality of eating disorders, how they entrench us, how they impact the entire person (mind, body, and spirit), and why that “not sick enough” mindset is so dangerously wrong.
It’s terrifying choosing to be open: but there is so much courage in saying “I am accessing treatment, and I am choosing recovery”. You don’t have to hit rock bottom to deserve a way out.
