📌September the 20th Tattoo day will support 2 causes.. addiction recovery and people living with cancer. Nicola Fennell approached us a couple of years ago to see would we do a Tattoo day to raise funds for people with cancer, her sister Fiona had sadly passed away that year and she had seen the struggles she, and other people had. And now.. nicola whizzes around like the good fairy after her Tattoo day, granting money and gift cards and sometimes something as simple as paying parking in the hospital. Heres her and Bella Ciao Fiona s story.
Fiona got breast cancer 12 years ago and made full recovery until Xmas day 2022 and died 14th of February 2023. Her cancer came back. When fiona 1st got cancer she taught she was going to able to work 😢 unfortunately that couldn't happen.
What people dont realise is when you get cancer you go on the sick so means your money is cut right back and you still have bills to pay like car payments, insurance, gas,electricity, school,kids activity fees,rent,shopping so to go from maybe 600 a week to 200 plus where does that leave you?
So I decided that I would seek out people that may need some help with a bill do a bit of shopping or treat themselves to something new. I give out vouchers. I also have donated to [email protected] and the last 2 years I have donated to tallaght cancer support group. Last year I also went to St.lukes and gave to cancer patients down there.
This year my plan is to find some parents of cancer children that have to travel with their kids to Dublin, because what people don't realise also is if your child gets cancer you dont get sick leave so you have to figure all of that out also.🩷🩷
It's not huge amounts Nicola gives out, but maybe enough to take the pressure off one week, maybe enough to pay one bill so the family can do something for themselves that week.
