LOUGHNANE
(Acknowledgement & Month’s Mind)
Rónán Loughnane
Cluain Doire,
Kiltillane,
Templemore,
Co. Tipperary
Died on 21st April 2026
Annette, her family, and the extended Loughnane and Carr families wish to express our sincere gratitude to all who supported us in our recent sad loss of our cherished Rónán.
We were truly overwhelmed by the numbers who attended Rónán’s reposing and Funeral Mass, which was a great source of comfort and strength to us all.
A very special word of thanks to JK Brackens Senior and Juvenile GAA Clubs, Templemore Ladies Football, Templemore Camogie, Lakeside Pitch & Putt, BT Harps, Sr. Aine Historical Society, Templemore Community Development Association, Cluain Doire Residents, and the pupils of Our Lady’s Secondary School, St. Colmcilles, and St. Josephs Primary Schools for forming guards of honour on both days.
The family sincerely thank all who offered messages of sympathy, kind words of support, floral tributes, condolences, and Mass cards. Your thoughtfulness brought great comfort during this difficult time.
Our thanks also to Fr. Conor, Fr. Francis and Fr. John (Cashel), sacristan, local musicians, and all who participated in Rónán’s Funeral Mass, and to our undertaker, Eamonn Grey, who guided us through this time with professionalism and kindness.
Special mention must be given to the staff of University Hospital Limerick and Milford Hospice, who took such wonderful care of Rónán in his final months. Sincere thanks also to GP Dr. Booth, and to Brendan and all the staff at Murphy’s Pharmacy, for the care and support they provided.
We hold deep appreciation and heartfelt gratitude for the kindness and support shown to us by our family, friends, and wider community—not only throughout this very difficult time, but also for the exceptional & memorable care and support we received during Rónán’s illness.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Rónán’s Month’s Mind Mass, alongside his Dad John’s 3rd anniversary, will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, Templemore on Sunday May 24th at 10.30am.

Passing through TEMPLEMORE, tomorrow!

An Rás Tailteann is Irelands international cycle race and is now in its 73rd year.

This year, on Wednesday 20/05/2026, the first of 5 days racing starts in Portlaoise and makes its way to Kilmallock (162 km) Co Limerick. The route takes the race through Templemore and while it is a spectacular sight it passes within a matter of minutes. It will consist of 150 riders with in excess of 60 vehicles (cars and motorbikes) accompanying same.

While it is an annual race and covers all of Ireland, this is the first time in over 30 years it is travelling through the town of Templemore. If you would like to view this historic race the following is the route and expected timeline.

Route – Entering the town from Clonmore, travelling straight through the town and heading for Borrisoleigh.
Time – Between 12.49 hrs and 13.30 hrs.

Support is always appreciated by the participants and race organisers, so if you fancy a bit of fresh air on your lunch break then there is no better sight to witness in the month of May.

Thirteen years ago, in the midst of unimaginable grief, Colin and Eithne Bell made a decision that would go on to change the lives of thousands of Irish families.
From the heartbreaking loss of their beloved son Kevin, they created The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust — an organisation built on compassion, dignity and humanity.
Today, as they prepare to step back from their roles, it is impossible not to reflect on the extraordinary impact they have had, not just across Ireland, but around the world.
Because of their kindness and determination:
• More than 2,500 families have received support in their darkest moments
• Loved ones have been brought home from over 100 countries
• Ireland became home to the only organisation of its kind anywhere in the world
At a time when families are facing devastating loss abroad, the Bell family ensured that no one would also have to face overwhelming financial and logistical burdens alone.
That is an incredible legacy for Kevin, and one that has touched so many communities.
I want to sincerely thank Colin and Eithne for the comfort, reassurance and hope they have given to grieving families over the past thirteen years.
Your compassion has brought people home, but it has also brought peace to thousands left behind.
Wishing you both every happiness in the next chapter, and offering heartfelt gratitude for all you have done.
Thank you for bringing them home ❤️

This weekend our town bids farewell to our neighbour, colleague in the motor industry, and friend, Kathleen Young of Young’s Garage Templemore.

Kathleen was a true institution on Patrick Street and part of the very fabric of our town for so many years. It is hard to imagine, after decades of seeing her almost every day, that she will no longer be there.

She was a remarkable woman — utterly dedicated to her work, deeply committed to her extended family, and always generous with her time and support. Kathleen possessed an incredible work ethic and played an active role in many civic activities, as well as in her beloved St Mary’s Church of Ireland.

Kathleen lived life entirely on her own terms, and for all she contributed and achieved, we salute her. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dignity, community spirit, and kindness that will not be forgotten.

We extend our sincere sympathies to the Young family, especially Henry, Dessie, Gladys, Jonathan, Adrian, and Rosemary, and to all who mourn her passing.

Her work is done. May Kathleen now enjoy the peace and joy of Heaven.

Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís.

We don't always have a Police motorcycle es**rt like this, but when we do it's so appreciated by families, proud we have a Police college in Our town, but even more to know we have friends who will volunteer to show utmost respect for both the Deceased and Bereaved.

No need to mention this man's name - everybody knew him and he knew everybody. Rónán unlocked so many doors that were rusted in history.....
The Gate Keeper
A father young, with spirit bright,
Through fourteen long months of fading light
Though shadows gathered round his head
"I have no fear," to his dear wife he said.
With four young children at his side
He faced the turning of the tide
Believing death is but a part
Of every living, breathing heart
He wove the old into the new
To keep a town’s deep history true
With old street signs raised and stories told
He turned the hidden dust to gold
TV cameras came to view the grace
He found within his dwelling place
And in the newspaper sharp and clear
He wrote of all the community holds dear
He gathered remnants from the clay
Of where the German soldiers lay
A museum built in the attic of his home
Where local history found its throne—
With passion keen and focused mind,
Leaving a priceless gift behind
A tenacious servant who gave his best
To leave his local community blessed
A hero when his strength was high
A hero as the end drew nigh
His work is done, his journey run
A legacy left by Templemore's son
The fabric of the town he made
Will never let his memory fade.
A life of purpose, deep and wide
Now resting on the other side
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
